Check out Antarctica: A Year on Ice feature film!: www.frozensouth.com
This is a demo clip I did back in 2005 to demonstrate the potential for time-lapse imagery in Antarctica.
This time-lapse video was filmed in Antarctica, in and around McMurdo Station and Scott Base.
Each year the sun is below the horizon for 4 months in the middle of winter, and above the horizon for 4 months in summer. During the couple of months in between we have more-or-less normal days.
Includes shots of auroras and the very rare polar stratospheric nacreous clouds, which form when ozone depleting gases crystallise in the upper atmosphere in the intense cold.
Summer population at McMurdo is about 1000 people, winter about 150.
Check out my other videos as well for more of life on the Ice.
For those of you who have been asking about the music I used here, the first piece of music is "Whirl-Y-Reel" by Afro Celt Sound System, the second is "The Grand Finale" from the Edward Scissorhands soundtrack by Danny Elfman. Both are available at most music outlets.
