Just watched Andrew's video and came here. Been a huge Antelope Audio fan for years. Really don't get why some of the plugins work on the DSP and others don't its like how when I had my Zen Tour and Orion 32HD some plugins were on the Zen Tour but not Orion and vice versa. Cool video Fady!

Had a zen tour it was a brick and thus I switched to Universal Audio Apollo 4 and never had a problem since and i must say if antelope had of had an after sales service worth a damn i probably would have stayed with them but they were atrocious where as Universal have been awesome with their firmware upgrade just keeps everything working as it should when you consider how much money we invest in these things.

Yes absolutely Flock is staying. It’s a simple db25 round trip into my Galaxy now 1-8 channels. Rest of the flock goes to my hardware units.

Hey, this is a great review, very informative and well done. How the plugins compare to the Apollo's? I think that UAD plugins are really great (and maybe they are just "heavier" on the hardware, that's why you can't have 128 at the same time). And what about latency for tracking? Thanks again. I haven’t tested the plugins yet. In terms of latency it’s great. Tracking in zero latency without any issue.

I had a Galaxy 64 for a couple years and sold it. Great hardware, except HDX auto delay comp is broken on Antelope interfaces, but they fell short on their commitment on afx2daw and plugins. Also every new firmware release broke something and Antelope tells you to role back without any commitment to if/when they will fix it.

Great video I have a question regarding the delay compensation with hardware insert in protools (using tb3). I had the apollo x8 and I had to input manually into protools hw delay compensation the round-trip time, 3 years ago I moved to the lynx aurora 16 (first gen with TB2), and i don't have to worry about it anymore, seems that the aurora is automatically compensating for hw insert. So what about this galaxy? I heard people with the 64 complaining about that (even with hdx card). Cheers

Hey there. So far the I didn’t have Ny issue with delay compensation for hardware inserts in Protools. I use that feature all the time in the studio and had no issues. And never had to input it manually.

the i/o and routing is def the biggest selling point imo, it basically kills the need for a switcher or patchbay. antelope conversion is great for this many inputs. i like metric halo conversion but way more money and multiple units required for similar i/o

the surprise for me was conversion versus 32gen4 ?!?…. make sense at price, but i thought it was because additional dante / hdx / dsp….i was leaning towards 2 x 32gen4 to get more analog i/o, but your in depth review reminded me of importance of tracking with dsp for monitoring 😅! one question please : is the daw buffer capped at 512 as you mentioned in the 32gen4 video review ? thanks in advance 💪😉👍

Converters are the same as the Gen4 And yes you get way more I/O flexibility because if all the other options. And no buffer size works up to 1024 on thunderbolt connection. If you end up getting one make sure to use the code in the description to get 10% off and support the channel.

No the galaxy doesn’t have that issue. It can run up to 1024 buffer size.

I think, The plugin limitations are because the newer interfaces have FPGA and DSP chips, where as the older interfaces only have FPGA chips.

but the Orion Gen 4 is a brand new interface and still can't run the plugins the Galaxy can run.

If I only use analog in and out instead of Madi and Dante and others, is the Orion 32+ gen 3 a better choice?

The gen 3 has the old converters but the Gen 4 has the updated converters similar to the one in the Galaxy unit.

Yes absolutely but you will need to run it to some form of a headphone preamp.

Hi heard the Galaxy 32 has the buffer size issue as well, how are you able to work around that? I likely wont have projects that exceed 40 tracks. I'll be using a good amount of software sounds/plugins and outboard gear for mixing. Will the buffer size issue effect me?

No that’s incorrect. The Galaxy doesn’t have the buffer size issue. As it’s 64 DAW I/O so it can run to 1024 buffer size without any issue. I use it daily.

Thunderbolt and HDX ports can go up to 192kHz with 64 channels. Dante, MADI and ADAT reduce their channel count on higher sample rates. Dante and MADI can have 32 channels I/O at 96kHz, ADAT can have 4 channels at 96kHz

The Galaxy is the worst design of anything I've ever used in my life. Nothing against this channel I'm sure you're nice, I'm just commenting to warn people. Antelope is absolute garbage. 🗑
