Hello Dave, i actually watched this video to compair ezenec with 4nec2 that i use. Your video started well, mostly in focus, and very instructional and clear but ended with comments like "er um thats weird". Better than most blurred and incomplete videos made on the subject... Ive been developing the OCFD, for some time and using a nanovna, voltage network analyser been getting great results. At 45 meters, about 120ft, ( i actually work in metric because 300 over your freq in mhz gives the wavelengths) i have 3 balun fed ocfd's in different directions so that those "wierd" patterns called directivity, can be properly exploited. 75 ohm coax is less lossy than 50 ohms, and a well designed 4 to 1 balun with a rf choke, gives very good results, vswr under 1.5 to 1 on 7.1mhz, 10.1mhz, 14.1mhz, 21.15mhz 24.9mhz and has low points under 1.5 to one on 10 and 6 meter bands as well. These figures are from both vna plots, 4nec2 plots and actual working swr figures over my near perfect ground at 6 to 10 meters high. Thats virtually 7 bands, but ive hit a problem when trying to model my latest modifications to the antenna. That's why im really here. I cant get 4nec2 to add a series lc across the feedpoint. Why do i want to do this, well by adding one in reality to one of my three OCFD's ive got an extra frequency, 3.6mhz at 1 to 1 swr, yes thats 80 meters as well, with NO ATU required. In fact the only other missing freq is 18 mhz which can be recovered using the ATU.. All this is possible using the same antenna dimentions as your example, by understanding what's going on with those "wierd" lobes (reactions) that you so happily brushed aside. Im using commercially available 11mm 75ohm coax, with my own variation of the guenella balun using 3 ferrite tors in all, see my web page on QRZ. com. One of my 3 windom ocfd antennas uses 50 ohm for comparison and shows by performance that a 75 ohm feed in 11mm coax is far better than 50. In the shack the different antennas go through a 4 way switch and back to 50 ohm coax through a ATU used solely for the SWR readout and only using the atu for 18 mhz. Can you show us how to model the balun and LC networks and insert them at any point??? As this is really why i watched the video, im looking for an expert on how to use any of the available softwares for antenna modeling. Someone who knows more than I do, on how to fully exploit the program and correctly model and develop an antenna, and able to show me how to add the extra components to model what ive achieved with the antennas. Ive probably spent 100 hours or more just modeling on 4nec2 on the OCFD to get to where I am now, but still cant get to emulate what im developing in real on the antenna its self. And befor anyone starts criticising my results or using the 75 ohm coax, ive gone from 62 to 108 countrys worked in just over 7 months with my 100 watts. So i also have the "proof of the pudding" results as well.

The 15 M pattern is actually nice for distance, because that lobe has nicer gain (6+ dbi) at a lower take off angle, despite the lobe upward.

now that EZNEC is free, it is possible to enter in 101 segments (after downloading the free version in Jan 2022)

i'm curious as to what the pattern to a half wave vertical dipole antenna would look like? i have a 102 inch whip with a 6 inch spring on a imax 2000 ground plane kit each radial is a 102 inch with a 6 inch spring as well... It does quite excellent 10-12 meters even on ssb with a swr of only 1.2 across all 40 channels on the 11m band

A useful demonstration of the EZNEC software. I don't understand why they won't allow you to enlarge the initial screen, it's hared work on the eyes!

At least on 20, you could feed it with a Q section made from 75 ohm coax and get a good match to 50 ohms.

i made mine just about the same as yours, and I get very decent dips, down below 3:1 SWR on 14, 21, and 28 MHz!!
