Dr Grant (In-Game) said it best. Deinosuchus is T Rex with Personality. I did not expect to have this much fun as the deino and even feel so invincible. Usually if you're not near water you feel trapped with everything on land but in reality when you see how little damage they do compared to you it's quickly evidence they are trapped on land with YOU. Also HUGE respect for Afterthought taking back their statement of no hot fixes and listening to the community, That's such a massive good move for them and i'm happy to see it happened!! Hey! I was one of the baby stegos being protected. I was recording the whole time, the four adults circling the babies hatched us all in so we started as absolutely *tiny* stegos I believe close to northwest in one of the pumpkin spawn zones, then we migrated for other diets. It's my second time being in a stego army, though I didn't make it to full-grown this time around.

@@unnameduser5647 The recording was a few hours long and iirc was relatively uneventful. People hesitate approaching a single stego, so when they saw nearly 20 rolling through the plains they booked it.

I gotta say, this game has come a long way. I remember getting this game back when it was new and broken so bad lol. It was that game you had in your list, but really didn't want to fight the lag and rubber banding etc, now with 6.5, it's an absolute blast, I'm so glad it has come as far as it has and look forward to the future with this game.

The reason they're removing steg and not deino is because with the Gateway map there will be way more places that make it harder for deinos to consistently find reliable hotspots that aren't heavy with competition like on Spiro. So due to such, the plan is because deinos are so heavily reliant on water, they hope it'll cause heavier cases of deino cannibalism to keep down the over-saturation of them that we see often as we do currently. Which, if that does happen, it definitely means deino won't be as much of a nuisance as they are on the current Spiro map.

Personally if that reason is true that kinda sucks they are pushing the cannibalism. I enjoy playing deino but I enjoy going away from the centre going to strange spots and waiting for an hour or 2. You are right about the hotspot stuff but that’s kinda the point of the croc. I have had the game for a few weeks now I haven’t played gateway but from some KZfaq videos I have seen of the map I can see it and what you said making people unlikely to carry on playing deino due to all the cannibalism and how much harder it will be to find land dinos drinking.

@pnutimusthe1st i mean, that's kinda the point tho. The deino right now, is hellish to deal with, and with a stego removal coming they're only gonna be worse. I mean, in this vid alone we saw a deino at 32% take on a adult cerato. That's not right. There shouldn't be something that's legitimately unstoppable or unfightable by any other dino. It's not fun to face or play with. Losing 2 hours+ of growth to a lost fight with another carno or cerato is understandable, you had a fight. Had a chance. But a deino snagging you up and dragging you under when you had to get a drink and losing all your work because of it? That's a buzzkill and not fun to the victim, just the deino.

@@kickazz3638 I agree deino is hell for anything other than stego to deal with but I don’t think removing stego, changing map and hoping the crocs cannibalise each other more is a good healthy way to deal with the problem I think having more safe drink spots and changing the stats would be a good way to go about it. People shouldn’t lose to a land locked croc the people in this video are kinda dumb and didn’t fight smart (waste the stam then go hell on the tail). The point of game is to try grow and stay alive losing dinos is apart of it and deino is the ambush water predator it’s meant to “snag you up and drag you under” that’s the point of it you drink from unsafe spot you might die. It’s not fair to take away the only land Dino that can kill the croc in its own territory and make croc a horrible experience by removing chance to find food in hope they eat each other more.

I'm so glad you got to see the Stego army! I was part of that, catching up with the herd after a little bite. I was also one of the few adults that came back after the server hiccup to help protect and get the babies more food.

This playstyle was totally viable up to about 70% before 6.5 because the stamina drain was a lot more generous. They way I used to play deino was intentionally switching out of grow diet at about 40-50% to grow slower and use my small deino land speed to play bush croc. That was so much fun.

Troodons would be a slighy problem. They can drain stam, completely stopping you from using alt bite and then just attack you constantly, if you cant turn instantly to attack them they can evade you quickly. Troodons are also really good at forcing players to hit eachother, its what I do to deal with groups, force them to panic and kill eachother on accident.

The sole purpose of Troodons is to flip people like that. A Massive carnivore being bullied by a cheap iguana is the top gameplay for troodons

Thank goodness the only predator to the Deino is going away, the Stego! Though, I suppose a T-Rex would wreck a Deino in 10 bites... But a T-Rex only grows to 5 tons, while a Deino grows to 8 tons, which directly relates to HP.

I hope they make servers have population caps for each species, so that even if insanely long growth times and traits to nerf apexes isn’t enough their species population can never exceed 5 for example. That’d definitely be a major help with balancing the species that are always going to be unreasonably powerful full grown

Personally i love the idea of ai t rex on officials. It could be hard to pull off but if done right could give the game a feeling that you are not an apex at all, so it could boost the realism aspect or the survival part of the game. Like a creature you would really want to avoid no matter what dino you play as. But if you happen to stumble upon it and anger it then it could be fatal. It kinda keeps you on your toes and also gets rid of the trend where every single person in the lobby plays as a apex or carnivore. Balance could be restored but i guess we have to wait and see.

Question. I have a rx 570 4gb, 16gb of ram and a Ryzen 1200 3.1Ghz. I get 5-25 fps since the Unreal 5 update. Are there any news on the new requirements? Should I get a new CPU or a GPU? thanks. It's the only game that I can't play even on low graphics. It seems to be very poorly optimized since every other game I can play

They said before like 3 years ago that they wanted to implement Rex as an ai before it became playable which; is why we got Stego so early (ai testing) Right now they plan for only the community servers to have access to apexes as they have no competition on the current roster once adult.

How on earth do you get up to 160 fps?! Anytime I go anywhere near another group of dinos mine tanks to like 5 fps. 😭 I don't have a top of the line setup but it's not a bad one either.

Even though deino seems pretty invincible, if its little its vulnerable, even not against stego. I remember killing about a 40% deino as an adult carno pre u4. The two you fought were going in at bad times, you can (to an extent) treat a deino like a stego with its alt bite being comparable to a tail swing (although not sure about it anymore seeing as alt bites no longer take stam)
