Almost bought a GMC AT4X for $100k! I've been driving around in my 2002 Silverado for the last 15 years. Its paid off of course. Decided to sink a few thousand dollars in it instead of buying a new truck. Just too damn expensive. I've replaced a lot of things from door locks, ignition switch, door latches and hinges, windows and motors, to the hvac actuators and many other components. I have to say, the truck drives and feels like new again. I'm much happier with my decision.

If you get a good old vehicle, and have some basic skill and tools, regular maintenance can help it last a really long time. My 1998 Chevy 1500 is at 382k miles, still running good.

I just started to have similar problem and going to pull this module and clean and retest tomorrow. My truck is in Albuquerque new mexico. It is a 2000 with 285k. I did crawl under and take a peak at this module and it looks like it has never been removed.

My 06 Yukon has the same junction block and so did my 06 Sierra. Even my new 2018 Sierra has the same thing. I've never have had to do anything to that, but I live in Northern CA. We do get rain, but no snow or salt on the roads. I bet people who launch boats may have issues with that part. Good video!

Anthony nice isolation of the malfunction although I would not have replaced the part once fixed. I also would have used Deoxit with an acid brush on the pins to throughly agitate the product thus removing any embedded corrosion. Blown it air dry, then put a pea size drop of dielectric grease in each connector. That should make it water resistant for years to come. No parts required.

But why risk it? It lasted 16 years, just change the part and not worry about it. It was like $100.

@@AnthonyJ350I always attempt to repair first to a reliable point. If I don't feel the repair is not going to have much longevity, then I replace the item. Other factors come in to play, such as replacement cost, how long does it need to last, how critical is the part, is it a high failure item? Every situation has its own opinions to contain with.

2003 GMC 2500. I had the 7-pin plug apart on the truck bumper and have no power on the red (left blinker) wire while the right brown wire is fine. The panel you replaced, does this control the trailer too? I have a buddy who tells me the Rear Junction Block could not be the issue.

Love your channel. I did this even though it didn’t look bad and also changed the flasher to Novita and didn’t fix my problem. I went to all led bulbs and they all work except the rear turn signals. When I put the led rear turns in, all 4 side markers stop working. When I put the incandescents back in, everything works as it should. Before the flasher, I put resistor turns in and everything worked until I turned the headlights on. Seems every time I try something, a different problem arises. Any idea?

I actually don't think the problem was 'inside' the module! Having specialized in finding difficult electrical problems, the most likely cause is the connectors themselves. It appears that distribution block is just that. I suspect there is NO circuitry inside it (at most, might have two diodes for the high brake l lamp - and these symptoms didn't directly correlate to the high brake function). [It might not even have a PC interconnect board at all, could be welded buss strips inside]. I do not dispute replacing it, but if it was the harness connectors, then a more meticulous inspection of both the plugs and the jacks, would have been the most helpful. If the module jack pins were in good shape, and the corrosion was mainly in the plugs, then replacing the module did nothing. Cleaning, spraying and re-mating the plugs, is what likely fixed it. I do like you; I spray a cleaner/lube first, as it can penetrate down to the wire crimps that the grease won't reach, and also the receiving socket's interior area (male pins). Then I apply grease to the female end, and re-seat the connectors several times before final engagement. [A 1/16 or so of grease in every pin 'port' is all I use, but you could 'pack the sleeves pin ports if you anticipate extreme conditions.] Note, TOO much grease can trap air pressure and blow out the connector's nose gasket ring, or the rear wire boots/sleeves! What he showed is about how much grease I apply. Mr K L

Yeah this isnt applicable to 2008 chevy Avalanche. From everything I've researched the flasher module is built in to the BCM. Pass Rear blinker doesnt flash with standard bulbs and with led they work but hyperflash. Other side works perfectly. I work on mechanical all day but electrical is a headache for me. Is there a ground on the rear somewhere that could affect only one light?
