I mainly listen to thrash. I don't want the slower progressive, melodic Anthrax. I want the fast and heavy Anthrax.

In the very begining of metal (since Black Sabbath) the true metal always had some deeper to say, not only music, sexs or drugs, but politics, religion, social, and even spiritual issues. Metal is for thinking people.

Elkin Cardona The great music coming from the late 60s and early 70s was such a product of the times. That era was rampant with drug issues, street crime, war etc. It provided inspiration for people like Geezer Butler to write about what bothered them most at the time. Birmingham was also such a great area for Metal to come out of too, a very depressing dreary place at times. Judas Priest came from Birmingham as well. I think the 80s Thrash bands were very refreshing to people when they came out because all the Glam Metal stuff was so shallow, and the Thrash bands actually made songs that had a lot of grit and weren't nearly as corny. Slayer whose singled out for making songs about mainly satanic themes have done songs about actual issues. A song like Expendable Youth is about L.A gang violence, which Tom Araya witnessed in one of the neighborhoods he grew up in. Or you have something like Eyes of The Insane, which is literally about a tortured soldier who came back from war with post traumatic stress disorder. Lots of critics of the genre never care to really see what the music is actually about, cause usually its mostly rebelling against all the screwed things in the world.

Persistence of Time might be their heaviest album IMO. Lots of dark topics in the lyrics on it too.

Ty Manning Absolutely their darkest. I can never choose between Among the Living and State of Euphoria as my favorite though. Fast intense thrash metal with real world issues in the lyrics just can't be beat!

Ocean Sage Among The Living for me. State of Euphoria is pretty underrated though. To me the classic era of Anthrax was just as good as anything Metallica or Slayer did in that time.

Ty Manning Hell yeah. Anthrax never gets respect. People act like The Big 4 is just Metallica, Megadeth, & Slayer. Anthrax has so many classics! They are also the best live now. SO glad I got to see Anthrax earlier this year.

Ocean Sage I saw them with Lamb of God in February. They have such an amazing stage presence, and they play like they are still young players in their mid-twenties. The energy at their shows is amazing.

Along with Blood Eagle Wings, Defend Avenge, This Battle Chose us and Evil Twin

I love for All Kings and This Battle Choose Us is under the radar.

One excellent example is the band Five Finger Death Punch & their many tributes, either overtly or subliminally, to our troops. As for this song, it actually is Biblically accurate! The part about "When you die what will your God say?" & then the list of ugliness so pervasive these days; my God totally agrees...ZERO TOLERANCE! Shalom all!

442 and 8 are as good as anything Anthrax has done in my opinion, you should give those albums another chance, bands like Anthrax don't put out bad albums, it just doesn't happen, work on developing your listening skills and before you know it these albums will sound amazing
