It was someone who SAID they were Nintendo that took them down. Unless disputed, KZfaq doesn't require any kind of proof. You can copyright strike this video and say you're Nintendo if you want. Then DYKG gets copyrighted, then THEY have to say that the strike isn't legit and THEN you need to prove that you're Nintendo and that this is a copyright breach. These guys said at this point filing counterclaims simply isn't worth it, so wether it was Nintendo or not is unknown, as they never needed to actually identify themselves.

DYKG posted the receipts on Twitter earlier, if you wanna see em. Edit: KZfaq saying Gilva can dispute the claims if he wants doesn't imply KZfaq thinks the claims were fake. It's a free market. Most used games aren't that expensive, and the rare ones that are expensive are because people are willing to pay that much for them. Meanwhile, Nintendo has made many of those previously rare games available again in some form (although many will only be so for the next year, so get them while you can), and they just don't the rights to most of the others, so there's not much else Nintendo can do. I'm sure we would all appreciate a remaster collection of "Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance" and "Radiant Dawn," though...

@@simpson6700 ...That's the nature of free market. Once someone buys something, it's theirs, and they can do what they want with it, including selling it. The used market is universal and the things being resold were purchased, not stolen.
@electricerger

Piracy of things not being brought to market is such an interesting form of piracy. From my perspective, a product exists, you have the potential to sell it to me, but you don't. The next logical step is to figure out how I can get access to it via other means. It's basically the inverse of Steams original model (by making it easy to buy games, more people will buy them that might have otherwise pirated them).

@@xxphazonzombiexx Well, lets use the most common thread, nowadays we're having a movement that advocates for preserving old games, as it is basically the history of the gaming area. There are several games that never saw a release outside of japan (like Gyakuten Kenji 2 mentioned in this video). So, people put the games online and translate em. There are also some games that just weren't released again for one reason or another. So you have games that you want to play, but weren't released again. You have no choice but to go to Emuparadise or Coolrom to try and download that one game that you just can't buy again as easily, don't have the funds to pay a vintage console + forgotten game, not counting how some games reach "Legendary" status and sell off for hundreds of dollars on ebay, like original copies of Ocarina of Time and Mario 64. Nintendo then proceeds to not only strike the websites down/ask em to remove their roms, but also never release some of them again (effectively risking losing this piece of gaming history for good) and charge extreme prices for those very games or sloppy remakes(Pokémon Lets go PIkachu/Eevee costs 60$ at full price. That's the very same price for Red Dead Redemption 2.). That's just asking for people to pirate em, otherwise there's no way to enjoy the games or the price's just too unfair compared to what they're getting.

The SNES/SFC had some interesting anti-piracy measures. Many of them had screens that would pop up with messages, when you tried to load them on copiers, such as the Super Magicom, and Super Wild Card. Others were downright diabolic! Like Donkey Kong Country, where they placed an object, in level 2, which was higher than Donkey Kong/Diddy Kong, could jump over. Essentially turning it into a 1 stage demo! A temp fix that I did, was to use a "Goldfinger" code, to jump higher, clear the block, then turn off the cheat. Also, Demon's Crest, made the epilogue boss impossible to kill. Micheal Jackson’s The Experience had an interesting anti-piracy on the DS where the game would work but the audio would be noise and the cue notes never appear, deaming it unplayable. But I think the most interesting anti-piracy measure in a DS title is WarioWare DIY where the game would work fine and you can even beat Mona’s episode, however in order to unlock the later episodes you need to pass 24 hours (or fast forward the DS clock) and reset the game, only to realize the created save file is corrupted as the game intentionally creates a corrupt save file so you cannot save your progress nor rely on save states as it requires a reset to unlock later episodes, preventing pirates from progressing.

And, please, don't come ot me with the "I can't afford this games because I'm low income" because I freaking live in Venezuela and has managed to buy ORIGINAL PS2 games (which is harder than it sounds) and even find obscure games on the PS3, DS, Wii and even Genesis games on physical. Don't try to manipulate me with the "I'm poor" narrative when I'm freaking poorer than you and still manage to find and buy original games on a country that is 60%+ pirated games.

@@LuccianoBartolini excellent points here, nintendo porting ONE GAME (that's insanely popular too, mind you) is apparently showing they're trying to preserve ALL of their games! and apparently mentioning that my income is low and thus I can't afford hundreds of dollars of overpriced games is "manipulation" instead of actual reasoning as to why I can't afford to spend so much money on second-hand games. also what the hell does other people saying they hated the wii u have to do with anything? that doesn't suddenly justify getting rid of the only reasonable legal way to get tons of games when they clearly have enough money to keep it up. your logic is extremely stupid. why are you even bothering to defend this shitty behavior? it's not like the original creators even make any money off of assholes reselling games for 5 times their original price anyways. you're just defending a company's ridiculous practices for no reason, they don't care about you and they don't care about their customers aside from getting money. but they don't even make money from the games lots of people are trying to pirate anymore because most of the even "legal" ways of getting them are resellers anyways. just because they're giving us a heads up doesn't make it much better either when you know damn well a lot of those are never gonna be ported to the switch or anywhere else because nintendo doesn't care. but I guess just because I wanted to download a 15 year old game that's not even being made anymore instead of paying some random asshole $200 for it I'm a shitty person suddenly and the greedy corporation definitely isn't at fault at all.

@@daanthedoctor "excellent points here, nintendo porting ONE GAME" Thank you for the compliment, but wrong, Nintendo isn't porting just ONE game, it has also ported two of the Earthbound games, as well as some Sega Genesis games and even Banjo Kazooie, which indicates that more games may come on the way. "apparently mentioning that my income is low and thus I can't afford hundreds of dollars of overpriced games is "manipulation"" Pretty much, why are you trying to get all games instead of just buying the ones you will actually play? I know plenty of cases of individuals that have their Steam accounts filled with unplayed games, heck, even I do. So, sure, you may have low income, but it doesn't mean you cannot buy a game. You only have to be smart about it. "hated the wii u have to do with anything? that doesn't suddenly justify getting rid of the only reasonable legal way to get tons of games when they clearly have enough money to keep it up." LOL No, Nintendo doesn't have that much money. Nobody in its right mind will keep a system, that cost millions to keep alive, that literally NOBODY USES (so no money coming back from that) just so people that doesn't even own the system can be happy. Asking otherwise is demanding Nintendo to go bankrupt. Being real, do you EVEN OWN A WII U? If Nintendo keeps it alive, will you buy a Wii U or use their system so they can have the money to keep it alive? Don't fool me, you know the answer is NO. " why are you even bothering to defend this shitty behavior?" Because it isn't sh*tty, it's actual logic. "it's not like the original creators even make any money off of assholes reselling games for 5 times their original price anyways." That's irrelevant. We're not talking about resellers, we're talking about pirates... speaking off... "but they don't even make money from the games lots of people are trying to pirate anymore" Actually, yes, piracy DO hurts them, because it means a sale less and (in the case of the pirated game being in a bad state) give bad PR about the game. At least resellers are keeping the OG game alive, unlike pirates, that take the OG game away form its original state for the sake of personal profit. " just because they're giving us a heads up doesn't make it much better either when you know damn well a lot of those are never gonna be ported to the switch or anywhere else because nintendo doesn't care." Dude, there are plenty of games in there that AREN'T from Nintendo and many of those games already have ports or WILL have ports on future consoles and, let's be real, nobody will miss the actually bad games (like cash grabs and shovelware) " I guess just because I wanted to download a 15 year old game that's not even being made anymore instead of paying some random asshole $200 " LOL I bought Pokémon Silver for the GBC for far less than that, and prices here are already expensive as they are. I also bought PS2 games that cost even less than that. Heck, Puppeteer costed me about 5$ and it's a hidden gem on the PS3. Meanwhile, small companies try to keep old games alive by porting them to modern consoles.

Honestly I've played through Pokémon Black in its entirety twice. The first time was emulated, and I luckily didn't got hit with the anti-piracy. The second time, my brother travelled to New York and went to the Nintendo Store and managed to buy me an official copy, which I played fully in my 3DS. Fast forward a bit. I sold my 3DS off in 2017ish, and back at the end of 2021, I was really homesick of the game since I played it during the christmas period, and I was just craving for playing it under the christmas tree lights again. So I downloaded a DS emulator to my phone, downloaded a copy of pokémon black and got to work. 15 minutes later I realized I was hit with the anti-piracy when I caught 2 pokémon and my Snivy was still level 5. I was pretty pissed at how there was a copy and an emulator out there that was "incompetent enought to fall in the anti piracy", but then it hit me I was also stupid enought to think I was just too smart to ever fall to it. Still found a patched copy tho, VAI BRASIL.

If you are playing on a pirated copy of the game, it becomes incredibly hard to make any money in it, because the better quality of the games you produce, the more times your game is pirated. I've never understood the motive behind this. Do they really think people who pirate the game, then realize it doesn't work correctly are going to immediately assume the reason is that they pirated it and then run out to buy the game? More than likely, they're simply going to assume the game is broken and then go pirate something else or not play it. There are plenty of people who spent legitimate money on ds games they thought were legitimate only for them to be bootlegged and unplayable because of stuff like this and it definitely didn't make them suddenly want to go buy the game legitimately. It's just a dumb annoyance that makes it harder for future game preservation and annoys random people, but does nothing to actually make the game more profitable.

If you played a pirated copy your needs would actually go down when using objects that would otherwise increase them (so basically your Sim would get hungry from eating). They actually put more effort into the anti-piracy than the rest of the game, as otherwise it's actually pretty bad, but it was amusing to see.

Sounds like an improvement to ghost trick. Over the excessive and endless tutorial, where even the last puzzle of the game is gated behind tutorial dialogue telling you what to do

Weird. I played Black in both Japanese and English illegitimately close to launch, and I don't remember them having such issues, but then again, that was, what, fifteen years ago?

Imagine patenting your games, never re-releasing them again and then complaining because someone is emulating it on an emulator of a console no longer produced by Nintendo and playing a game that isn't available anywhere other than second hand copies on eBay. Oh wow Nintendo's profits are going down because someone wants to play Eternal Darkness instead of waiting to get fucked again because the big game company doesn't want you having fun, they only want your money.

Can't patent games. Patents are for inventions, not creative works.

A crime is still a crime. Nintendo is in their right to stop you. Saying otherwise would be like saying that a thief is in their right to steal food from a market if they were fired from their job and needs to feed their 4 year olds kids.

@@togamibyakuya8016 There are multiple crimes that exist that no one enforces because they are dumb, just because something is illegal doesn't mean it is wrong As for your specific example, it is completely legal in Italy to steal food because you are poor and hungry, so I don't think it's the gotcha you think it is.

@@1sdani *"There are multiple crimes that exist that..."* That still doesn't meant that they aren't punishable, just that cops aren't doing their jobs correctly. *"just because something is illegal..."* Says who? The laws are the laws, plain and simple. If somethis is wrong it is. *"so I don't think it's the gotcha you think it is."* You sure? Because my example reflects something perfectly: A need to survive. Games don't fit that category, so this exemption goes out of the window.
