This is a video is of a 2000 Chevy Express 2500 Van that wouldn't start. The security light was flashing.
This fix works for many vehicles
WHAT TO DO:
Put key into ignition
Turn key to on position
Wait until the security light stops flashing (it can take 10min)

i lost my keys months ago. got 1 made but with no keyless entry. so now i use key primarily. i turn key in door multiple times, then door opens. i hit unlock button once or twice. car cranks up every time

DUDE. I spent the entire day on the phone with dealerships, locksmiths, mechanics ... ALL MANSPLAINING to me that I need to be towed to be diagnosed. I broke my remote and I locked my car doors. When I did it made my key unable to unlock the car door OR the ignition once I did get it. This video saved me time and money and stress and agony. I disconnected the battery 🔋to clear the computer. Waited 10 minutes, reconnected it and was on my way again... now I know the real reason this has been happening.. thanks 😊

I hope to god this works. I went to the gas station and I come back and my car wont crank and the security light turned on. Had AAA tow my car to my house. But I'm going to have to wait till tomorrow to fool with it because we're in the middle of a tropical storm 😑. Glad I made it home safe and so happy to pass by this video. Thankyou 🙌🏻

Yay..I've been trying to start my 2003 dodge caravan sport for the last 2 hours ..someone said it could be the security system because I took off my cables on the battery ..well I tried some of what they instructed ...nothing ..until I saw your video worked right away ..thank you ..you saved me much grief ..cheers 🍻🍺

My mechanic replaced a part not the starter though ($650), and problem was still there two weeks later😘😘 I’m going to try this method, because mechnic can’t figure out was is causing car to go in theft mode.

Those of you with GM cars check the fuse box on the fender well. These boxes are notorious for coming loose. There are 3 screws in the middle of the box. Make sure they are tight. This box grounds to the body. If the box is loose it will intermittantly lose contact and can cause the security mode to initiate.

I am at end of my rope. My car not starting was the last straw. I don’t have $300 lying around to pay for two new keys to be cut on top of the $150 they want for diagnosing my vehicle problem, and the mechanic assured me there is nothing I can do to fix the anti theft strategy not recognizing my key. Just sharin to my experience!!! I currently have 2 appointments one for dealer and another for a decent auto service. My main mechanic referred me to another guy to save money. That however started a chain of 4 straight times of being sent to the next man. They were either backed up, didnt have programming capability, or just plain out did not want to deal with it. ITS A PAIN. Some will tell you straight up you might need to see your dealer. Got to make an appointment.for who knows when. Then they cant read the code if the LIGHT IS OUT!!!!. Guess what i have an upcoming appointment and the LIGHT IS OUT. But no sooner i cancel it will be back on . Hopefully and maybe when i crank up the light will be on when i drive it to the shop , just me venting

You saved my ass! I'm having to use an inverter on the truck to run heat inside my house because of all chances, it would be the totally wrong time to be without heat and electricity in the house. Now the the truck is running I can use the inverter and I have lights and heat in my house, awesome thank you so much!!! To add to that my next step was going to be to disconnect the battery to reboot the entire system which probably would have worked so if this particular fix doesn't occur for everyone you might try disconnecting the battery letting it sit for five or 10 minutes and then reconnect it and see if that doesn't help.

This happened to me when I had a key that had sat around for about 3 years. The fix works. My problem was I could start the van and it would not run unless I had my foot on the gas soon as I took my foot off the van would die. I turned it to on let it set about 15 minutes turned it off and then it started normally and ran normally

It as though when you bypass one problem the computer just shuts off the next component, why did the car companies do this bullshit to us? It's as if they put a time bomb in our vehicles and sold them to us just waiting for their huge profits to roll in from future parts and labor they must of known they would be able to charge because of their inferior programming and designs! I wish I'd been in on those board meetings when they were planning all this!

The security system basically starves the engine of fuel. Which Is why you hear that clunking sound right before it shuts it off, almost sounds like a muffled explosion right? That's the security system cutting off the engines access to the fuel, which interferes with the engines combustion (which is basically what makes the engine run (a bunch of tiny explosions.

This just happened to me today lol on my 2001 Nissan Maxima....I disconnected my battery to replace my radiator fan, all went fine until I went to leave and would not start after trouble shooting a few things I found it was my security light and now I wait lol.....hope this works🤷

@@HealingAmazing do you have a key fob for your truck? Does it work? If not there is a chance that the water shorted out the battery. Try replacing the battery on your key fob.

@@SantanaOutdoors813 it worked enough after drying to turn the power in in the truck and show the cluster of indicators and my lights ect. Just flashed the red car and lock and I noticed I never seen it before. Now I know why it has police traceable stickers all over it 🙄. I'll be ripping this out after I get my Ford Escape home tomorrow!!!

I just finished assembling my car after rebuilding the engine and transmission. The car has been layed up for 15 months due to parts etc. on my first startup attempt the car turn 3 xs but didn't start . On forth attempt I got the no crank no start problem. I'm gonna try this when I get back home and hope it works . I've already checked battery , starter , relays and fuses everything is working. I jumped the starter from the relay and it turns the motor . From beginning I thought either the car thinks its in gear or the security system is stoping it from starting . Wish me luck 😂

My Wife savef me 😂!! You can stick your key in the car door but hild your tour for 30 secs, pull it out , if you have fob disarm then stick in ignition should firr up in about 5 secs or less

Hey this happened to me on my lancer 2001, I have changed my lock barrels since it had two key to open doors and for ignition, I have install new immobiliser unit and lock barrel now vehicle cranks no ignition(even with old key and immobiliser) . Looking for some help ? will this works for me? I’ll have a look in the morning and update here.

My 1999 Ford F-150 just did it today when I put a new dash cluster in and I tried this and the theft light wasn’t flashing anymore and went to start it and it stuttered then died and it went back to just cranking. How long did you have to wait?

Mine don't flash. Ill do the key back and forth and it'll eventually turn on but gauges don't work. When I leave the key on like you said, it goes off and back on in about 10 seconds and off again but all the while I hear a mechanical sound like ticking.

Sounds like your battery may be very low. It may not have enough power to start. The ticking may be relays and or starter trying to engage but there is not enough power. Have you tried a jump start?

If you have a key fob you can also lock then unlock door then turn ignition on.

My 98 gmc sierra. Doesn’t start but when I put it in position to crank it the security light goes on then takes off after 4 sec. I unplugged the battery for the truck started and as I was driving the SECURITY LIGHT came back on (not flashing) turned off truck and won’t start.

I didn’t have an extra $180 to throw away so I KZfaq my issue and your video popped up. Saved me! Thank you!!!

I'm about 99% sure there is no chip in that key. Most Hyundai's and Kia's don't have chips in the key.

For my Ford Territory. The flashing light. Is the 'stop hand' ✋& car 🚗 light. It's one light. It flashes as I turn the key to the last position before it turns over. And it doesn't allow for me to start. Just like in this video. Will this be the same principle, given its a different light. Vehicle is New Zealand

I have that problem in my van but it doesn't always flash and when it does I lock the key and remove it. I wait 10 min. and it starts. If I do that, will the problem go away forever or do I have to do that all the time?

You can also reset it by using your key to lock your door and then unlock it with key and go back to center and then unlock position and back to center 2 more times and then wait 3 minutes and it will start. That's how ive reset my several times and i have a 2002 chevy silverado. I will try your way next time just to have a back up incase my way quits working

My red security light blinks but when the key is in the on position it just stays solid!(No blinking) Tried this fix for 15 minutes and it didnt work. Disconnected the negative battery cables for 15 minutes and it didnt work ! Then disconnected them both for overnight and it still didnt work.

Hello sir, does anti theft light always turn on when when system is activated? Had a mechanic tell me my problem for no spark is anti theft but no dash light flashing.

There is an antitheft module that may be bad. I did have a vehicle that needed the same procedure shown in the video which worked even without the security light on. Try the method in the video. Also read through all the comments because some people have alternate methods which work also. Also check to see if there is an aftermarket alarm that may be preventing it from starting.

I have an 07 Dodge Dakota with a 3.7 l engine. I just replaced the ignition switch. And now I can't get my truck to fire up and I have tried this trick and it's not working have any suggestions? The old key had the lock and unlock feature with the panic button I'm not certain if that has anything to do with it or not

My BMW has the same issue, the mechanic has been reprogramming key inside Ignition with a diagnostic computer. Works for a couple of weeks then issue returns😢 I’m going to try this. Wish me luck,

So let me see if I get this right.I got a copy of my girls 2002 Honda Civic key but it won't stat the car at all and so all I got to do is follow these steps to have it working? Now what about the original copy do I need to reprogram it as well or it will be fine?

So I was told that I didn't have the chip in my original key, no spare key, and was told that I needed to have a new key cut and have it programmed to my car. It just cost a small fortune as the key I had cut at Lowe's would not crank the car either. Just had that done a few days ago and sometimes I feel like the car may not crank again and just yesterday I had problems moving the gear from Park to drive or to anything. That's starting to frighten me. Does that have anything to do with having the key programmed again. Thanks for such an awesome video, wish I had tried this before calling a locksmith out that research told me would be cheaper than Towing the car to the dealership.

mine was flashing and I couldn't start the damn car so I held in the little red panic button on the key while I turn in the ignition on and that allowed the car to start damn mustang

I have a 97 Buick Skylark that's doing the same thing. I've tried doing the 10 minute reset and sometimes it'll work, but other times as soon as I turn my car off, it goes right back into the flashing anti theft process. I need a permanent fix 😭
