Mate, there are literally movies about alternative universes; it's supported in the comics through the Spider-People and the Spider Totem. That's kind of what makes Spider-Man so fun.

@@madmaninabluebox949 The point I’m getting out here is that the original games brought in a voice actor for the role of Peter Parker and for creating the characters likeness. Then sometime later, Tom Holland showed up for the Spider-Man movies and the suits decided to take away the appearance matching the voice of Peter in their game to replace it with a face more resembling Tom Holland. That’s it. That was their whole reason. Relevancy. Trending hype, and the belief that consumers will always reward whatever’s trending . 👎 Then comes the pitch for venom, which ever one knows is Eddie Brock but the writers or suits didn’t give a shit. Their story involved, Harry whose affiliation is with the green goblin, and they could have used Harry in that regard, but they said fuck it. We’ll just have him be venom even though everyone knows that venom is Eddie. This is only to reiterate that they don’t give a shit. And they also use the same tactic that Marvel uses in regards to making up shit n later making up ways to justify their bullshit decision-making. Is the same logic you see with modern Day, Star Wars, and the use of the force to do every fucking thing under the sun . You can explain it away later because you’re consumers are dumb ass sheep anyway so who gives a shit. As long as your dangling, keys are pretty enough your sheepish consumers are like babies that will respond appropriately. 🤦‍♂️ It’s just obvious when it’s disingenuous. When it’s a manipulative, tactic not coming from a place of care or authenticity, but instead coming, purely from greed and trend chasing/relativism. Usually they disguise this with alternate universes so they can just rehash something Successful with a new twist. There is caring and authentic expanding upon a story, AND THEN there’s disingenuous manipulating and over the past decade, we typically get disingenuous manipulating.

@@grimmjow0106 Not every story has to be a retread of the original. If it were? That'd honestly get pretty boring--which is why they've used the alternative universes thing to explore differing scenarios for how the Spider-Man story unfolds. You complain about people being "sheep," or just accepting what's written, but that's called taste and consumerism--people like what they like. Your entire mandate that "they're shitting on the story" is a direct contrast to the entirety of Spider-Man's mythos throughout all of the comics and media. Did they change the face to resemble Tom more? Sure. And that's a little strange. But there's a reason why there are so many different kinds of Spider-Man. It's why the created the very notion of the web that connects them all through the Spider-Totem. Also, for the record, it's also a play on the notions of probability and self-actualization. What makes a Spider-Man? What defines their entire being? Many variations of the same event; new outcomes. All of it unfolds to reveal that what makes a Spider-Man is the ability to overcome tragedy and become the force of will that always rises to save the day. And they've done that. That, and you could just look up the voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal, and see that it's actually a blend of Tom and himself. Which... is pretty normal for designing characters these days.
