Really enjoyed this episode. Quick story: I'm a veteran (8 years, USMC). I enlisted, and after a few years was hoping to become an officer. Me and a friend from my unit set up a phone call with the local Officer Selection Officer to sign up for a commissioning program (this was in 2011). His response: "White males? I've got a waiting list a mile long for you guys. No ETA. Come back when you're a black female and I can get you into OCS within a month. You wouldn't need a full degree either."

Weird that white males still hold the majority of all officer positions in the army… you’d have thought that after more than ten years, based on what you’ve said, it would be overwhelmingly black women - but it’s not!

34:20 - Tito wasn't pushed aside, he died. He didn't just suppress the nationalism while he was alive, he kept the grievances from WWII under the ice, so the Yugoslav wars were mostly just the continuation of WWII in the eyes of many a belligerent. That's why the brutality of it all came as a surprise to the Europe (and the world) 50 years removed from the war.

I've never heard this, but I'm not surprised. I'm reminded of Howard Stern's comment on Iraq in the early 2000s (when he was still funny) that "the only person who could govern these people was Saddam Hussein."

"Civilization requires a modicum of prosperity--enough to provide a little leisure (to think and reflect). But, far more, it requires confidence--confidence in the society in which one lives, belief in its philosophy, belief in its laws, and confidence in one's own mental powers." Sir Kenneth Clarke "When a civilization, like our own, devotes itself to the task of undermining its confidence in itself, this is an act of self-destruction." Howard S. Schwartz

The elephant is the fact that a large multiracial society will inevitably fail. A little diversity is fine and good but too much diversity brings division and conflict.

@@republitarian484 I think what we agree on is that a nation requires some form of unity. But I honestly do believe it's possible across races, although it requires race becoming a non-issue. Blondes and brunettes and red-heads can get along and share a society together because they realize these traits are superficial. Our nations wouldn't print headlines like "Blonde kills brunette in violent assault," or "studies show gingers make up 5% of the population but only hold 1% of the wealth." If we were united as a Christian nation, the multitude of races involved would not matter. Our enemies would not be able to divide us along those fault lines because we would understand that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ.

@@stephenthompson3309 . . .race will never be a non-issue. Race is NOT superficial. It is extremely important. Do you really think we evolved so differently on the outside yet none of that evolution occurred on the inside? Vision is probably our most keen sense and used most often. It's a tool to determine friend or foe before more information can be obtained as to whether or not another person/group is a threat. We are tribal by nature and that tribalism works at all levels from schools, neighborhoods, sport teams, colleges, etc. But race is the highest form of tribalism one can have and it is inescapable. A little diversity is fine and good but too much diversity brings division and conflict. And this also can be seen at all levels. A few friends from an opposing football team at a party most likely isn't going to be an issue. But you bring the opposing schools' entire team there and it most likely will be a problem. There is no other level of tribalism to go from after Race. If diversity was so great then why do most people self-segregate? Even in college lunch rooms today they self-segregate by race. Why doesn't the rest of the non-white world let all colors and creeds into their countries? Because they instinctively know their people are different and special to them.

Your all wrong nationalism is a disease you can't have Somalis in -32 Minnesota nor do they belong there until this country gets itself into distributism and everything gets exploded into small local communities the problem will just get worse

@@republitarian484 The racial fault lines are separating because of intentional choices on the part of college-trained Marxists. When the fellows of the Frankfurt school looked at America, they realized that it was going to be harder to bring communist revolution here than in Britain or Russia because there is a vastly different rate and scope of class mobility here. Poor kids can get an education and become world-renown brain surgeons. Rich kids can get hooked on drugs and ruin their family legacy. So they needed other ways to pit the "haves" against the "have-nots," and we've been seeing them advance all of them: men vs women, straight vs gay, fit vs fat, you name it. White vs black is just one of many lines of attack. If you haven't seen "Anarchy, U.S.A" by the John Birch Society, look it up. They have some interviews in there with black communist defectors who attest to the targeting techniques. I do not believe the tensions are grassroots. I think if you were to say this, I would agree: that diversity is at least a vulnerability which enemies can exploit.
