C. S. Bell/ C. S. Bell & Co /The C. S. Bell Co. Hillsboro, Ohio ,USA Number 3
Heavy cast iron mill used as grain mill, corn mill, corn grinder, coffee grinder, grain grinder.
Grind /crush any types of grains. Back in the days ,it would have taken a lot of time and effort to manually turn grains into flour.
Although fully functional, this little beauty, finished in Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze, is now proudly used for display only.

Attached a pulley to the shaft, and attached that pulley to belt connected to a variable speed motor. Wish the grinder shaft had a bearing. Makes grinding effortless. These grinders are still fairly easy to acquire in my part of the country.

Beautiful piece. Loved the magical transformation. Had a giggle at your using the kids swimming pool for rust removal. Hope it didn’t stain the plastic.

Excellent video and restoration mate, I particularly liked the gold highlights and that oval grain pattern on the timber handle. You certainly had a lot of surface area to deal with, Well done!

Yes apparently the previous owner used it daily and when he passed away it had been sitting in storage for many years 👍👩‍🔧

Hi. I have a similar one from alexanderwerk. It's a meat grinder. A great rarity. I couldn't find the same one anywhere. It is in mint condition. We have had it in the cellar for many years. It is for sale

Ouch!!! You should have take all the internal parts and surfaces and coated them with a cooking oil and placed them into a hot oven for an hour, then turned the oven off and allowed the parts to cool in the oven. Then painted the exterior of your mill. The paint on the internal surfaces will ruin your mill for grinding grain. (The paint will wear off and contaminate your flour or meal)

Nice job. I just acquired one of these and will be restoring it to grind corn. What were you dipping those nuts and bolts in? It looks like you're just heating them and dipping them in oil to quench.

Thanks for watching. Yes ,used hot bluing on the bolts n nuts..They were heated and quenched in vegetable oil to stops them from rusting and give a nice dark look. Wish you all the best restoring yours 👍👩‍🔧 #littlerestorers

We got our grain mill torn apart yesterday, cleaned up and all the outer pieces repainted. We were wondering what you did with the two inner grinding cones to protect them from rusting? Did you paint those as well? We will likely use ours to grind corn for chicken feed. Thank you.

Oh, great to hear you got started on yours. I just cleaned the grinding parts and coated them with vegetable oil.

Hi thanks for watching. From what I gathered the writing on the wheel might give you an idea of the company's production years C. S. Bell (1875 - 1882) C. S. Bell & Co. (1882 - 1894) The C. S. Bell Co. (1894 - 1970) In my case unfortunately the only writing on the wheel was "Model 3"
