Just got myself a 1950s KRUPS "Perla", for 5EUR...and it works like a charm, too. No batteries, no electronics, just refined mechanics...and (to me) there is an "aura" of fine craftsmanship to these old-school instruments that none of the modern digital scales have, regardless of their obvious convenience.

This was such a great source off entertaintment in my childhood

I have found a newer model, where the side-level is no more. It just doesn't dip past what I need, like mom's did. Will have to get used to that.
