Hi Dave I'm Chris the happy owner of this lovely bangle. We watched the film of your restoration work and were impressed with your level of expertise and the care you took with the piece. Very well presented, will be a pleasure to wear. We enjoyed chatting to you at your stall in the Assembly Rooms, Lancaster. Very informative. All the best, Chris

Glad you enjoyed it! It's just taking my time and knowing what the different tools can do. Which I guess is just practice and experience. But grab a cheap scrap item off eBay and have a go. Thanks for watching. Dave

Greetings Dave from across the pond in Florida! Another great Sterling jewelry restoration video my friend! I've watched you well over two years now and have since self taught myself how to remove monograms and engravings from Sterling identification bracelets and inside of gold rings, using the same principles and combinations of technics you teach. I thank you so much!!! I think everyone would enjoy future videos to include removing engravings from Sterling and silverplated flatware, hollowware, hollow handle knives and serving pieces, and the inside of gold and silver rings. Just some ideas! No one on KZfaq shows how to do flatware!! I also give you credit for acknowledging the history of the engravings and the pieces themselves. I feel terrible having to scrap silver and gold jewelry that is artist or maker signed, and is personally engraved with a story. Sometimes it can be saved, sometimes it cannot. But, I will say, I have saved a few pieces thanks to you by removing monograms! Keep up the good work! I would also like to see a video on how to properly remove the paper from those sanding drums!! I can NEVER tear them off properly to efficiently use all grit! - ChicagoJoeArchivist

Thanks for the lovely comments. Nice to share the passion . Plated Items, I don't touch, but I guess it would be the same principle. sand and smooth then polish. Once polished the piece could then be re plated. Regarding the sanding drums, I know what you mean. Each tear gets smaller and smaller. I run the sanding drum and use an old pen knife or my large jewellers saw around the bottom to cut a groove and trim off the lower flaps of paper. If this makes sense. Even so, I couldn't live without them. Thanks for the message and support. Dave

Hello! great video. I plan on making new silver chains and am planning to file, sand, tumbler polish, then hand polish. What polish do you recommend as I live in the US and menzerna is hard to come by
@CelticDreamsCoUk
@CelticDreamsCoUk 3 жыл бұрын
What do I reccomend for what? for filing, use files (vallorbe Swiss), for sanding use sanding drums in a dremel, or flex shaft (600 grit), for tumbling use steel shot and burnishing powder, for hand polishing, use Tripoli and rouge on felt and cotton mops, either larger on a bench polisher or smal ones on a dremel. May I ask ? How to clean and polish a badly corroded/tarnished ornate ring found in wet beach sand with many hard to reach areas ???
@CelticDreamsCoUk
@CelticDreamsCoUk 3 жыл бұрын
I can recommend the 3M radial discs for small areas. Work your way through a few grits. Dave kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7tyobFlz5-cfpc.html
