Learn how to troubleshoot an Antminer S17 hashboard by performing live voltage tests. Watch as I walk you through the general layout of the hashboard, including power distribution, signal flow paths, and expected voltages. You will also get a close up view as I use the Zeus Test Fixture to obtain live voltage readings from various points around the board. Learning these basics is a necessity when troubleshooting most boards.

Hi, thanks for this video. The best on youtube. So simple, well organized information and clear. I was searching antminer repair videos for months, but from yours, i could understand in 10 minutes about the basic signal lines, how to diagnose them, and i repaired the first S17 Pro board. Please keep up making more good videos. Greetings from Romania

Another fantastic clinic on S17 repair. You definitely have a true gift as an educator if the mining gig goes to the opposite of the moon! Bitmain should have a link to your channel well have you on the payroll to boot. Have you ever seen a board pass every signal but still show partial ASIC's? If so would changing the chip after the last good one be the next step or the last good chip? EDIT: Capacitors!
@upgradeya4868
@upgradeya4868 2 жыл бұрын
Haha, thanks Chris! If there are any Bitmain folks out there, hook me up. I don't think I have had the entire board pass, however I have definitely had issues where the number of good ASICs was not problem. Instead the the adjacent one in a different voltage domain was causing the problem.

Let me know if you're willing to provide training. I have 10 AntMiner S17+ machines with a variety of card issues. Core Scientific said they were un-repairable. I would love to see if I can get at least a couple of them working again.

My hashboard RI signal into chip 48 is zero, where does the RI signal originate since there is no chip higher than 48? Excellent video. Well explained with great pics

Dumb question, when you were testing the voltages on the board was it hocked up to Zeus Test Fixture and PSU? I got a S17 Pro showing 24 out of 48 chips found and checked everything in the previous board video and couldn't find the issue. any ideas? Thanks.
@upgradeya4868
@upgradeya4868 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I'm connected to the test fixture and use the APW9 PSU. I would start pulling heat sinks around 24 & 25. Do a close visual inspection and double check readings. If still nothing, reflow 25 and maybe reflow 24.

to do your voltage test do you have to press the green test button everytime??? or just put voltage on the board??/ that tester give me 0 asics even if Ive got a working boaard///...hate it..
@upgradeya4868
@upgradeya4868 Жыл бұрын
Yes you hit the button each time. It only pulses the board for a short duration, allowing you to get your reading. If you have a working board, why are you testing it?

Other testers will allow you to run the power through the board for longer periods of time. I've also seen other techs that will place the +20V clip on the other side of the mosfet in order to test voltages. I have not tried this myself since my tester allows for a longer test cycle.

hello, what do you recommend to mark the hash board? It is so that they are not confused with other people hash boards. the issue is that my customer needs the mark not to be erased with the cleaning maintenance, he thinks his hash boards are being changed. Thank you

Hey Ramon. I write a number on the first silver pad to the left of the positive terminal. I use a "Sharpie Industrial" permanent marker which claims to have "super permanent ink" that is resistant to oils, chemical washes, heat and steam. It fades slightly after ultrasonic cleaning however it is still very legible. If you want something more permanent I would suggest etching something on a blank spot of the board or use an engraver on one of the silver power pads near the top. Hope this helps.

Hello Jorge, it can probably be done without the test fixture but I imagine it would be very difficult and possibly unsafe.

Thank you! I have 2 boards in my repair stack that are missing this signal. That is going to take some digging into so they are set aside for the time being. I'll be sure to pass on my findings when I do.
