I don't know Czech so I can enjoy this magnificent performance without bothering about accents. Thank you so much for publishing this!

I love this beautiful vocal work of Dvorak, especially the 6th and the 7th songs. Dvorak wrote these songs just after his fathers death, yearning for him and his country. He dared to wright this work in Czech language. Translations to other languages were not well adopted about this work. I have seen Mr.Gerhaher’s great performance at Salzburger Festspiel. I wish he release recording of this wonderful work!

I speak Czech and have been listening to Czech in every form ever since. I must admit that listening to Dvořák (or any other classic) being sung by non-Czech speaker means a kind of torture for me. Notwithstanding the undeniable musical quality and beauty of the voice, the accent is still there. It is if like Beatles songs were recorded by someone who speak English with an accent of a James Bond villain. The German accent in Czech has always been used in parody and when I hear it somewhere even slightly, it is really hard to concentrate on the music. I would prefer purely instrumental version of these beautiful songs.

I agree with you. Generally a fine musical performance, but it bothers me when I hear "Bože" pronounced carelessly.

Very Wagnerian, and almost worthy of the master, tho Dvorak only improved when he shook off the Wagner influence
