Outstanding. One of the best live performances I've heard, and believe me I've listened to a lot of them, and almost every recording there is, andddddd played it myself (not to this level). I sense quite a lot of the legendary Michelangeli live reading in this, coupled with the almost dry clarity of Alicia De Laroccha. Wonderful!

Bravo Maestro! Truly a riveting performance. In my opinion, Antonio is one of only a few pianists who has the technical and interpretive powers as well as structural understanding of this cornerstone of the repertoire. He hits the spiritual essence of Bach's masterpiece. Bravo. Bravo. Bravo.

Phenomenal. Not only a brilliant and clear technique, but incredible musicality. You are a gift to the world. (I so wish there was a bottom G just for the final variation.)

Thank you kindly! I agree, a bottom G would be great for the ending. Unfortunately, Steinway pianos do not have that lower note. I still would not want to play on any other piano, though.

@@AntonioPompaBaldi I find putting the bottom B flat against the G gives enough overtones to fool the listener into thinking the piano has the bottom G ;-)

In diverse altre performance, dal vivo o registrate, del Maestro Pompa Baldi, sempre brillanti sul piano virtuosistico e interpretativo, mi ha sempre colpita il fatto che il pianoforte sia per lui un mezzo espressivo totalmente assimilato al suo corpo, senza soluzione di continuità. Qui si assiste a un fenomeno diverso: la ricerca estetica e spirituale travalica i limiti dello strumento stesso e rende onore al monumentale Autore e alla Sua opera. L' impegno con il quale Lei fa fruttare il Suo talento, gentile Maestro, e ci permette di prendere parte, da ascoltatori, alla Sua ricerca è un potente antidoto contro il mal di vivere di questa epoca difficile. Perciò: umilmente, grazie e che Dio sempre benedica Lei e la Sua famiglia, che sicuramente con Lei condivide lo sforzo del Suo impegno e della Sua ricerca.
