Those sweet onions are the only kind that I can tolerate. I even grew them but didn't have the right conditions. Eating them cooked is a pleasure. Enjoyed your bee teaching today. Enjoy learning about diatomaceous earth, lol.

Onions onions 🧅 I have a love hate relationship with those things but Kelly has truly helped me through eating them in meals that I now don’t mind “some”😆🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m not sure about eating one like an apple but maybe in some tasty batter deep fried to a crisp😋😂 Happy you enjoyed the video Sharyn and we’ll call it D.E, I can pronounce that😉😆 Thanks for watching

I just put DE around the legs of my hive stands a couple of days ago. I used a flour sifter to give a good uniform line.

Hello, Up here i use 2 way. They work great with the EZ LOADER and stack good on 24 foot truck bed. But ya i dont POL almonds. I like you do 1/2 front closed 3/8 in open. I use migratory lids with a lip for patties again a 3/8in lip. For syrup i only use 1 gal pails. Weighed hived and most are about 90 lbs singles so we almost ready for winter. Still warm so i figure 3 to 4 weeks before i do OA and then wait for first snow to shed. Dio earth is good. Works good in home if ya get bed bugs. it will help with ants but also kill BEE if it gets in the hive

DE is also used in inground pool water filters. Neat stuff. Keep it away from the bees use to kill SHB and even mites on a board below a screen bottom board.

I use Beetle Blasters to control the small hive beetles. I think the original thought was to use cooking oil in them but I found that they make a mess when they fall over. DE works very well as a substitute and it is much easier to work with.

Another great video, I want to build some pallets as a lot of my old bottom boards have rotted and seems that is a much better more efficient way to move the bees. Ordered some W brackets and glad you mentioned the snake issue, we don't have rattlers here around my area but copperheads are bad so solid will be my choice. Thanks man. Enjoy seeing what you guys are into. Take care, God Bless!
@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper
@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Tim, man copperheads are just as scary too. Shoot I get spooked by any snake😱🤷🏻‍♂️😂. Do you run 4way pallets? The W clips are my ideal clip for sure. @@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper no just single bottom boards now but want to move to some 4 way pallets or 2 way. Went ahead and bought a handful of clips to make some pallets this winter. Several of the single bottom boards have rotted and need replacing so thought I would give pallets a try. Switched to migratory lids last year and like them much better.
@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper
@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper 2 жыл бұрын
Before assembling your pallets you should dip the bottom runners in copper naphthenate to preserve it. Also pallet companies out here will dip them in wax. Just a thought so you don’t have things rotting too fast. What style were your last lids?

@@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper thanks for the tip, I definitely will use the copper compound. I had primarily used telescoping covers but like the migratory better. I can stack my hives closer in the winter with the migratory covers.

@@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper some people use it in the tray under there bee hive. It does work but you got to be careful not to get it in bee hive. Find the ant hill get some orange oil and spray them with it and it's all natural made from orange peels
@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper
@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper 2 жыл бұрын
I’d be too nervous trying it on the bottom board 😥 I will have to try that orange oil though. Thanks for the tip
@wadebarnes6720
@wadebarnes6720 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper the bottom board would be a screen bottom board. I just use the orange oil find the ant beds and spray them with it on the ground under your beebox. Oranges is a natural degreaser that's what it does to the ants it washes all the grease off and they don't have any protection after that I've never sprayed bees so I would be careful with that too but I use it all the time in my garden my kitchen my bathroom so it's pretty safe
