The cobra was montaged, so it was done both in atmo and space. But given how powerful vertical thrusters in SC are, I don't think it's that unreasonable.

If we're going by the physics in the game, a cobra maneuver is perfectly possible with directional thrusters along the body. Engine lowers output to the forward thrusters and increases output to the thrusters on top-aft and bottom-fore appropriately to cause the ship to rotate upwards while dramatically decreasing speed; then the forward thrusts kick back on with the top-fore and bottom-aft thrusters kicking in to get the ship stabilized again.

Please note the Buccaneer's pilot had absolutely no intention of shooting the main character. I mean, he was probably just cruising along, minding his own business, maybe even taking a scenic route on the local aerial highway.

I think that they've said they do that because a large percentage of the playerbase is non-english speaking. This makes it easier for them to use subtitles in their languages. It's *still* annoying though!

@@leroyrussell8766 for F7C2 and F7A2 the wing mounted gun hardpoints are upsized to S4, the hull has a smidge more HP, SCM is slightly higher, and F7A2 trades 2xS1 power plants for 1xS2. They're otherwise identical in top speed and handling number-wise, the F7C2 and F7A2 just come with different stock loadouts, and both currently work with the F7C1 nose turrets/spinal turrets.

You can also mount a single S3 direct to the nose if you'd like. Nobody knows if you can swap over the F7A2's 2xS3 nose turret given the F7A2's improved power plant config, but the F7C1's 2xS1 nose turret does work as well.

Doesn't help with the paint scheme, but you can at least still swap out the center storage hardpoint of the F7C MKII with the scanner, ghost cap, or either MKI turret (also the hardpoint for the nose turret is present for the F7C MKII, so either a gun or MKI turret can still be equipped). Not sure about the F7A since that's not available yet, but I'd imagine its the same story.

Armor and engine modularity is all you'll need. Swap the armor for void armor and the engine for an arclight 300

@@EllisanLeonhardt Where does it say you can swap out the centre storage for a scanner or Ghost Cap? I think that ship has sailed regardless of modularity and what was spoken yesteryear. You want a Ghost or Scanner variant you are going to have to buy the ship. I'll believe it when I see it that they add a one for all ship as John Crewe was moving away from that so that has likely changed.

Well, I just spent the entire afternoon getting mission 1/5 done. It took forever to spawn and, as usual, it was like herding cats trying to get a team together. We had the mission fail on us and had to re-do it at another location from from the beginning at the other side of the universe. Just makes me come here and say - can I please just buy the MK2 military upgrade? That was just not fun, like, at all. I don't care - I did my best but I have zero interest in doing anymore of these. Just let me buy the upgrade when it's ready and I'll be on my way because these live events are always buggy headaches, thanks. Oh, and btw, the Mk2C isn't gold standard? I thought we were done with releasing ships that weren't ready? Very disappointing.

And just HOW MUCH did I spend, back in 2013, on the F7C-M Super Hornet, which was supposed to be "as close to milspec as is legal to own?" Do I get a free "upgrade" as well?

It was as close to milspec as was legal for the Mk-I. Still is. **shrug** The Mk I and Mk II are actually different, if you bother to compare their technical specifications. The Mk I has two utility slots, one fewer power plant, four missile racks, and smaller guns. The Mk II has no utility slots, two missile racks, larger guns, and an extra power plant (for the larger main gun, two canard turrets, and two more maneuvering thrusters). It's also more expensive. Maybe you don't know this, but lots of military aircraft have multiple 'trims' with different core loadouts for different missions. The F-16 has tons.

Not like Constellation, there is no free upgrades for original Super hornet owners. You have to pay extra 50 dollars to upgrade Mk1 to Mk2. CIG want more money from your wallet.

@@taylor895 I don't want to be snarky, but why would you be entitled to a free mk2? They're different ships, even if they share a common origin. F7C-M is still delivering what it promised, a civilian F7C fitted with the closest-to-milspec components possible while still adhering to civvie regulations. It explicitly is not an F7A mk2 or F7C mk2, it is a civilian reproduction of the F7A mk1.

Numbers-wise the maneuverability is identical between them, though there may be minor differences in characteristics based on weight and drag. This just leaves mk1 as a cheaper variant that doesn't support S4s on the wings, only S3s, and doesn't have the F7A mk2's upgraded power plant for running the larger 2xS3 nose turret.

Seen some people mentioning that the MK1 will be beefier in terms of armor when that's eventually flushed out. But that's just a rumor. It's just typical new ship moment. Over time it will either get nerfed down or eventually the mk1s will get another pass. Or they actually figure out what either one can excel in and what the other can't. Safe bet, keep your ships, earnt hat F7A upgrade from the event and wait.
