The most romantic love story that I have ever seen. After watching this miniseries, I knew what TRUE LOVE should feel like. The music captured my heart! Tears!

I'm sorry. And I'm not singling you out-- it's just that I'm reading SO many comments like THIS. And it's funny because I'm just curious....🤔 if you saw this on the news TODAY, a story about a priest that GROOMED a little girl into what he wanted her to be...(Remember, Ralph himself makes this very claim in HIS own confession: "I molded her, ever since she was a child....") I'm wondering.... would people still think this was a "great love story" TODAY? Or would we think that Father D'Briccassart was a sexual predator?..... No need to respond because I already know what the answer would be.😏😏 And don't worry, believe it or not I like the movie and the book. But I'm just saying in retrospect....

@@Justice-ef9skThat's just the trouble with this generation today; they overthink everything and label everything as creepy or inappropriate. In the process they lose the tenderness and sweeping sentiments of great works. This generation is deliriously jaded and rendered toxic, they produce nothing with magnitude or indelible; just bathetic mawkishness, disruptive nonsense, no vulnerability. Father Ralph was not buggering Meggie as a child, she was a mature, ravishing beauty when they did become amorous. It's the journey of this woman that makes this miniseries so heart wrenching

this song erases about 30 yrs., and reminds me of watching the mini-series with my mother. I was a teenager, but sort of mesmerized or spellbound by the movie. Richard Chamberlain and Rachel Ward had a charisma, and there probably was never better acting in a mini-series before or since. This also says alot of the director and writer. And to add to that, the themes songs were top rate. This combination of things made a tale that will haunt many of us everytime we thing of the heartwrencing tale

It was the essence of his greatness that he routinely DID capture and evoke such painfully gorgeous emotions. Do a KZfaq search for "Anne's Theme", the 4 minute full version, from " Anne of Green Gables", by Canada's answer to Henry Mancini, a now decent genius, HAYGOOD HARDY.

Who else could have scored such touching, moving and perfect music for The Thorn Birds? The music was perfect! And who didn't shed more than a few tears every time they showed a funeral procession and played the beautiful Drogheda's theme? 😢

I am obsessed with this piece and with the whole story. The way Henry Mancini captured the essence of "The Thorn Birds" in this music never ceases to amaze me. If the pain of a forbidden love had a sound, it would undoubtedly be this piece, which tears the heart and creates a lump in your throat. It may be the fact of seeing this love as something impossible, something so unattainable, that makes it so beautiful. It is difficult to explain, but I just close my eyes, put the music on and on, and a tear runs down my face. Thank you for this magic moment.

I agree, so very moving. Even Mancini himself seems humbled by this deeply moving tune he created. Waves of nostalgia wash over me every time I hear it, I still catch a lump in my throat after all these years.

Most soundtrack music is meant to enhance the scene. Manicini left of themes that will eternally haunt our hearts. The tenderness, sadness, and sense of humor in his music showcases a prolific range in emotions! Who doesn't like Pink Panther, Baby Elephant Walk, Moon River, and this incredibly tender yet morose tale of unrequited love?

Beautiful haunting song. Beautiful tragic series. Wonderful. When you listen to Meggie's theme, you can feel the love between Ralph and Meggie. I love the series, even now. The best series ever. I wish it could have had a happy ending but then I dont think it would have had the same impact it did. Richard Chamberlain, he's my hero and a true gentleman. His paintings are awesome. He is really talented. And Rachel did a sterling job as well.

When a mini series is good you can't wait until the next week to see what is happening now. 20 years goes by and Dane is a man the next time you see it. I LOVED it though. One of the great mini series. Up there with Eleanor and Franklin, North and south and Roots. You can't climb any higher than that.
