I have one - this printer is great - all though the slicer is feature lacking it is easy to use and super straight forward. MY ONE complaint is cable management and that is nothing compared to the speed and quality this dishes out. The large build volume and the price tag being 2/3's of the competitions comparable printer also help. I personally don't use the wifi but my station is also close to the printer so I don't mind. TBH I had the Kobra Max - and my complaints were it needed direct drive and better cooling to be the best and I can assure the Kobra 2 Max made those changes.

As someone who is relative new to 3D Printing (or more like to owning one), I can say: you're 100% right about the general consumer. It's the user experience. That's why I bought a Bambu, and not a Elegoo (which I initially was planning to) on Black Friday last year. Because I want to print - I have enough hobbies to tinker.

I find your perspective interesting, especially the limited functionality of wifi. However, I think that you should discuss print quality a little more. As an owner of a kobra 2 max, the max is the most reliable printer that I have ever used. In several months of use, it has never failed whether I print a very large lithophane, an articulated dragon, or many large objects at the same time. Bed adhesion has been great, no stringing, and no messing around with the z offset once the initial setup. I like a good user experience, but I love what so far has been an essentially bullet proof printer.

Hey, I have some questions and I'll be really happy if you help. I am thinking to buy kobra 2 max but I am not very sure. I am gonna print small-middle size figures but instead of pro I want max because maybe in the future I can print larger things (figures,models,etc.). Does k2 max still okay if I print small things? Do you have any problem with leveling?
@lucasvyner1502

@@killforpeace mid size sure, small no. big bed slingers just aren't quite there for detail unless you don't mind a lot of post processing. Resin detail is day and night better for that, even at an obsolete 2k, much less what they have now.

@@killforpeace between those it'll come down to qa and print speeds. Both units having no mechanical issues and tuned correctly should be able to print the same. if you really must print small swap to a smaller nozzle size and lower layer height accordingly. I've done that size mini on both my cr10s4 and a anycubic photon mono. Ideally if the ender can handle your mid size prints i'd find a budget small resin printer/wash and cure combo instead. there is some safety involved ( the resin is toxic when not cured) and you need to relearn supports vs fdm but you'll get near commercial quality stuff for them and a lot faster than fdm ( only the model layer count affects resin, multiple or complex models on the stl don't increase print time).

Help! Nice review. I am a newbie that purchased a Creality CR-10S Pro V2 a few years back. Based more on the build plate size. I would like to print more but it normally takes me 2 or 3 days of 20+ hours to get a successful print. Z axes supports are a bit off. I have calibrated the best I can. Oiled the long screws. Changed the nozzle. Now I am replacing the build plate since the printing item pops off the print bed. Using Elmer's glue stick. I was researching this ANYCUBIC Kobra 2 Plus, and came upon your video. What printer would you recommend? $500 range. Wifi, works with mention Beagle V2, or better 3D camera $100 range. I print cosplay weapons for my daughter. Mostly swords. I do want to print an Ironman suit, and a Mandalorian Helmet. Please recommend a printer.

I own a Tronxy X5SA - 400 pro a Printer in the same class with 40x40x40cm, which is arguable weaker in Software and build quality. But it is an Core XY and i have a normal CR10 hotend on it. I run an Octoprint on an old Pi3 for it. I stiffened the Frame and it runs 200mm/s now. I have several nozzles for the Dragonfly Hotend. So i upgraded it with around 100 Bucks. I personally have a Question: What were they thinking with a Bedslinger and High Volume Printer. Those Printers often have 500g of filament on their bed, moving it extra will induce failures. My Tronxy already needed an improved bench to sit on for it's 640x670 The Anycubic Konra needs 740x735 for 2cm more Printsurface? Even the CR-M4 from creality is smaller with a bigger Build Volume. Prusa Style Printer is bad for Big Printers, Go Core XY for large volumes. those Printers were on the Table when i wanted something in the 40x40x40 Class and i chosed the Tronxy simply because of Core XY for heavy prints and less Space requirements.

Yeah I've got one of these. It's sitting under a stack of random stuff after the last time it extruded a giant wasp nest under the print head and needs to be fixed up again. The problem with my Bambus and my K1 Max is that they make it too easy to say "screw it, I'm just going to use my Bambus and my K1 Max." So for the last several weeks I've been cranking out stuff on those smaller beds because I'm still mad at my Kobra 2 for being a huge (pun intended) disappointment. Please Bambu, make a 350mm+ printer.

The heatbrake can be swapped with one made for the ac vuclan hotend (older gen printer) it fits perfect and allows the use of standard vulcano hot ends. But one may run into moire pattern issues with higher guality nozzles. Autoleveling will work just as well as witth the standard nozzle/heatbrake. The biggest + over the elegoo one are the sg15 bearings instead of pom wheels due to better wear resistance.

Your video is relatively informative. I appreciate your viewpoints, and this video is largely responsible for my deciding against this printer. Primarily this is because of the proprietary app, wireless uselessness, and slicer choices (or lack thereof). But, I really....REALLY...despise all the flashes to random people making gestures of disgust/surprise/disapproval. You neither need these clips, or improve your video by including them. IMO, it makes them borderline unwatchable.

I mean I would like to see if they come out with a .6 nozzle even though i don't think they will but you can get a .6 mm nozzle of of almost any aliexpress type of site for like .50 cents. I own the kobra 2 pro and for the entire part I've had a wonderful experience. It took 15 minutes to put together and with in another 20 i was starting my test print. Its pretty much worked flawlessly since except for when i changed slicers and had to adjust the z offset. which you can do on the printer mid print if need be. I can reliably print rapid pla at 250mm perimeters and 175mm infill every other layer at .2 layer thickness with a .4 nozzle and have no to very few issues. I think the Kobra 2 series and i atleast know for sure the kobra 2 pro are very good printers especially for the fact that you can get the kobra 2 pro for 250 usd on amazon as of the time of this post. I do think the fact they went with the nipple nozzle was a bit silly but i have upgraded my nozzle and heat brake for the grand total of like 5 dollars and it should help me print a bit faster too since its a bi-metal heatbrake instead of the ptfe lined one the send with it. Also you can get around having to use their slicer but just exporting the g-code from lets say prusa slicer to anycubics slicer with literally 4 extra button clicks. That means that you have a basically ready to go out of the box, a printer that puts out very solid quality prints at upwards of 500mm speeds(print quality does suffer a bit at this speed), has basically its own version of input shaping, auto leveling, a dual gear direct drive extruder and a solid but all be it unfortunately kind of loud fan for $250. Thats only $80 more that an ender 3 v2 and its $850 less than a prusa mark 4.

Also another problem is if you print something say 300mm high then go to print something else without re-homing the z, it will cause the filament to back off the spool and wrap around whatever it can find...so annoying! I did find other nozzles on amazon but the fact that I can print fast with a supposedly fast printer just irks me ;)

They just needed to put in a little more work to make this a great printer. There any cubic slicer prints remotely but it doesn't have a TPU profile. There isn't enough configuration to even make your own profile I don't think. When I use the webcam with my Kobra 2 pro, the frame rate was so abysmal that it wasn't worth it. I do love the app for being able to monitor progress, pause prints, change temperatures and cancel prints. You can also adjust the z offset after you start a print and it saves it for future prints.

The amount of warping in the bed on arrival is comical, i had to put the silicone bed spacers on mine and im still unable to get the bed mesh leveling to account for how much of a turd the bed is, with the nozzle grinding in the corners where the spacers mount, and no adhesion elsewhere. I trammed the bed multiple times using a dial indicator and could only get it to about 0.5-0.7mm level, and the first layer is still garbage in the corners of the bed. Not bad and i agree with about 80% of what you are saying as far as the nozzle i have been running just random .4 and .6 random brasses with mine with no issue no need for the ones with the extra nub at the top no clogging nothing at all, Now as far as the firmware they need a update like they had for the kobra 2 base model that thing allows you to move it anyway you wish from the touchpad, have yet to try a camera on the max so far but i will soon and get back to you. Now as far as the slicer and all the dumb extra stuff they offer with the app, thats for you muh dude you said you wanted a printer that just works out of the box, now say you are just getting started, you open it up and install the anycubic slicer and it is your first 3d printer you will definitely be limited but you dont know that yet its like a slicer program with training wheels that like you asked for just works out of the box no need for extra no need to really learn, but once you get the bug than you get prusa or people that are already using prusa like yourself just skip the software. You no longer use training wheels, do you? I mean im not going to judge i mean im a laugh but not judge. But yea the lying needs to stop i feel you on that one. Great vid and keep them up!

Idk about this video.. seems like a bit of exaggeration if not misinformation.. Curious if he would prefer the Neptune Max or the Kobra 2 Max, because majority of videos out there say Kobra 2 Max at this current point.. Feels like he's comparing this 450$ printer to a $1200 one.. (not very fair if so) 🃏

For $400 I'd say it's a good beginner's print but would upgrade the nozzle and enclosure as it's almost all alluminum so the cold starts creeping up the heatplate and cause problems to warm up or stay warm during print

One big issue I haven’t seen anyone talk about in these reviews on the Kobra 2 plus is the fact that the firmware forces the fan on to 100% after the first layer. I assume the max has the same issue based on forum chatter. The printer does not obey the code and you have to turn it off manually. This is an issue when printing at high bed temperatures because the fan is so aggressive at 100% that it will cause a thermal issue and stop the print. The nozzle stays put when this happens and welds itself to the printed material if you aren’t present. You must be present and turn it off manually on the second layer.

After having to return TWO Kobra 2 Max printers because they were both defective out of the box, I am done with Anycubic FDM printers. That was absolutely frustrating to sink the $400-$500 on this thing and then spend an afternoon assembling and trying to set it up, only to have them both have major defects (one couldn’t complete the setup “Homing” guide and started grinding on its rails. The other couldn’t get the test shark bottle opener to print and it wasted a bunch of my filament). Fortunately, they were willing to RMA both devices for a refund. I purchased an Elegoo Neptune 3 Max instead and am hoping to have better luck once I get the opportunity to assemble it. It’s been an ordeal and nerve-wracking as I’m trying to print some statuettes for a business. All this lost time has been lost money.

You should have seen the amount of hate this video got when it was released, but thankyou for sharing this story, because it gives me that little bit of hope that maybe I was onto something. The Neptune 3 was decent enough for me, It's still an Elegoo FDM printer, which don't have a great rep. But I'd still say it's the best pick of a bad bunch. why pay for more headaches....

It's almost like you went out of your way to hate the Kobra 2 max from the get-go, I agree it has its limitations however I've had mine for several weeks now, The anycubic slicer is absolutely fine, it has a decent profile which almost prints as fast as my Bambu X1C (which I find mindboggling for such a massive bedslinger!) and the wifi printing works absolutely fine both from the app and the PC.

It's not in bad taste at all to discuss competitor products while reviewing a printer you were sent for free. If anything, saying something like that is an explicit statement that you have so much appreciation for finally being "in the fold" on free reviewer swag that you will compromise your objectivity to continue receiving free stuff.

In the 3D printing industry, the ultimate distinction between success and failure will likely be determined by the interplay between greed and laziness. It is imperative that content creators exert pressure on the market to accelerate the淘汰 process, ultimately benefiting the consumer.

I think the solution here for a 350mm + printer is the Prusa XL with 1 x tool head. I know the XL is damn expensive (4 x the price of a Cobra 2 Max) and has its own hiccups but surely of much higher quality.

I bought one to be able to mass produce lots of small parts at once. It ended up being an utter disaster from the start. The bed warped so badly that only a ring around the center, but not including the center, could be reliably used. Also, the bed stepper motor was dead on arrival. So much about the touch screen, not having access to the firmware, how Anycubic had wildly different print parameters set in all of their provided slicer profiles, changlish, and so on was just terrible. After grappling with Anycubic, I returned the machine. It was a horrible experience. It was very obvious that the machine is hitting them in the gut based on how absolutely difficult it was to return the machine. I'll stick with their resin printers lol

I'm sorry am I stupid or did you say in your Kobra 2 video that it was a fantastic printer, beginner friendly and better than anything else, but in this video you're saying the Kobra 2 is a bad printer for beginners? Watching the two videos back to back kinda make me doubt you as a reviewer. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
@FauxHammer
@FauxHammer Ай бұрын
It goes to the beginning of the video, a lot has changed in this space in the last 6 months and the market has moved on. I never said this was a bad printer..... But there are alternatives now which make it sooooooooooo much easier for the beginner. This printer neither tries to emulate what it's competitors do in that regard. Nor does it cater for people who want the option of tinkering with their machines becasue the firmware is undisclosed and locked down. So if you;re a beginner, there are better options. If you want to be more of a tinkerer, there are better options. This printer is fine, I just don't know who it is truly for.

I have to admit that while i like my kobra 2 I wouldn't recommend anyone buy an anycubic as a first printer. Nor would i advise anyone get one if they want an out of the box experience. Frankly I can't see myself buying another anycubic printer again. It's good but i do feel let down and anycubic just send to have given up on it and stopped all support and no longer updating firmware.

Yeah, I unfortunately bought this printer as well. It's a mess. Sure, it can print big (if you can even get it to print), but I can't get it to level well, the bed is warped, the settings calibrations are questionable at best, software support is nil. It's now a very expensive paperweight sitting in the corner of my office. Would much rather slice my files into smaller chunks and print them on one of my Bambu printers than deal with this thing.
