@@anthonydelagrande9698 I am pointing out something that held her back. Unless if that was because she had a cold during the performance of course then that explains it. My analysis: "Anyone" has a pretty straightforward arrangement to say the least, and there is a lot of repetition. Especially for veteran singers, doing it in a low vocal range relative to the singer (stepping into fry already in the intro, and also cutting out the highest part), this song is really not crazy demanding in execution. (It is like Whitney Houston's I have nothing. It is a surprisingly very easy song IF all we talk about is in terms of just vocal range.) This is why Demi adds so much gimmicks into it, e.g. sings it a bit like throat singing, doing all ending notes sharp akin to Alicia Keys. To some (and to me), it even may sound overall just kinda weird. So, judging by her many other capable aspects at singing in this video, the intention should not stop at only hitting the notes with this song. This song's completion relies on timbre or decorations (variating widths of vibratos, alternating between chest voice and falsetto, variating between vocal runs and glissandos. Some are seen here in this video but they are mostly not seamlessly assimilated into the lyrics, just ad libs and runs annexed to the ending notes/ gaps.) As a result, the song can easily lose intention and slowly turns into a Disney princess ballad. In light of that inherent intention of the song, I ask, why so much constraint/ restraint on her vocals? Perhaps she wants a simpler take? okay, sure, that is cool. But from how it sounded, unless she had a cold that day, I don't think she had a choice cuz she was definitely nasal at the high notes ("Lord", also "Pray" "Way"). So, I am just pointing out a universally helpful solution, to solve the foremost issue which, so she could improve on either ease and range (feel free to pick one). Because, then, she will have a better time feeling more in control doing existent/more ad libs, or not having to fatigue in the later half of the song and cutback on vibrato like she did in this video. Solution: Simply put, if she belted the chorus (overdrive in CVT) properly instead of laxing into nasal (curbing in CVT) she won't feel so strained. She can easily have that choice of tackling the highest note like in the original arrangement instead of having to avoid it altogether; OR alternatively if she didn't want to do the high notes, with just being conscious about not curbing, she can confidently move the key one semitone up, or even two semitones, so that the intro sounds more audible and better suit her range, seeing that she sounded a little unconfident or jittering in her early vocal fry (a topic for another day). This, to someone who sings like herself, is literally a 5-second solution for so much more choice and less hurt to the vocal cords.. And yes, her breathing form is great.
