I'm also 35 and I understand the addictive nature of short form content, but I also hate it. Shorts are shoved in my face, and I end up watching because I can't escape, but I never feel happy after watching shorts. I just feel distracted. I like long for video too.

I go to KZfaq for long relaxing content to help with my anxiety. It’s like taking a long deep breath. I go to shorts for entertainment when I’m stimming to get through the day. It’s like exhaling and going “Ughhh” for no reason. I’ll watch what you do ❤

Here’s my two cents: I NEED long form content and it’s so hard to come by good stuff on KZfaq these days. I long for videos like this because I’m constantly looking for something play in the background while I’m cooking, doing dishes, cleaning etc. Back in the day when I was lounging around, procrastinating homework, I may have looked for content that was more fast-paced, captivating, dramatic. Now I need something relaxing, soothing, humouring- like a friend talking in my earphone while I do whatever it is I’m doing. So please keep posting these, Kristi!

yeah I need long form content too... I put it on while doing something else - short form requires you to sit there and only do that, because you have to keep scrolling and I hate it. I'm an artist who likes to have something going on in the background other than just music, and short form will never fill that need for me.

I'm on tiktok and I actually watch long and short form equally depending on what I'm doing but I really have admired how you've stayed true to youtube and you're just such wholesome "you can watch or not" content and it's so refreshing. I ended up uninstalling TikTok coz I was wasting time with it and didn't think it was good for my mental health. I like short-form sometimes but am absolutely more of a long-form gal. Love having a nice chatty video I can put on in the background while I do chores, sewing, exercise etc. You, Louise Pentland and Smokey Glow are my go-to's. I’m a 35 year old Mom of two. I watch KZfaq videos to escape for a while. I watch tiktok when someone worthwhile is on there, but most of them are on Instagram as well, tiktok is such a totally different place that I’m not sure I want to visit often 😂

Agreed! I'm 43 and I honestly hate shorts heard they're getting rid?.. dont know how true but i hope so on YT.... bk to videos like this. I also think Ms Duxbury is so unrelatable as honestly who can afford to use a bottle of foundation every 4 days! God forbid concealer etc!!.. I just think it's ridiculous. She's probably a lovely person but genuinely just don't enjoy the same look every single time!... I do watch TT every so often but it gets boring if I'm honest. I resisted tiktok for so long but I felt like so many YT creators practically abandoned their channels in favor of TikTok.... so it felt like I didn't have a choice. I absolutely MISS SO MUCH grwm videos, long form reviews, swatch videos comparing palettes, full brand reviews. The short form stuff is driving me crazy.... literally lol

This. People flock to where the creators are. A lot of makeup KZfaqrs simply stopped posting to their youtube and if you wanted more consistent content you'd have to watch TikTok. That being said there's now a new crop of beauty KZfaqrs that are thriving because the ogs are just gone.

I’m not on tik tok and put your videos on the same way you do with the office. I like to listen/watch while I do the dishes, fold laundry, etc so short form content is not for me. I love a 20-30+ minute video so you and Bailey Sarian are my go-to! I understand you’re running a business and need to “stay relevant” and I do watch your shorts but love a longer video. Thank you for continuing what you’re doing! Homestead videos make me happy and I’ll never get sick of watching you do your makeup and chat about your life

I'm a millennial but I don't give a shit about social media. I don't have tik tok, or anything besides KZfaq. I don't miss a single thing about not having fb, Twitter, or Instagram. I do watch shorts, but I much prefer a video, and the longer the better, especially when it comes to true crime. I listen when I drive or clean and really enjoy long vids. Yes, exactly. I get the draw for short form, and I don't think it'll go away, but I'm not a fan. I haven't used Facebook in almost 10 yrs and Instagram in almost 5. I only had the tiktok app for a few days before I just deleted my account and the app. It was SO overestimating and felt almost invasive the way it just constantly plays and bombards you with videos you don't even tap on. Most of it was stuff I wouldn't have even seen in my youtube recommended. Just random crap. It's crazy to me that anyone could handle the onslaught of noise and jump cuts on that app. And don't even get me started on how unregulated it is. Not like anywhere you go is particularly great about misinformation, but it's wild on there.

Same, I will always prefer long-form commentary/documentary videos, which actually provide nuanced conversations about topics that interest me. Short form content reminds me of the zainy, over-stimulating content my young cousins under 10 would watch.

I just want to Thank you for sharing your struggles with chronic illness. I battled migraines and cluster headaches for so many years. Last year I suffered a major stroke in my occipital lobe which left me partially blind along with a whole host of other issues. I’m 21! I can’t do short form anymore, I recently deleted all my social media because I hated how much time I would waste. Sometimes I won’t even watch a 10 or 15 minute video because I LOVE long form, documentary style content.

So last night my 75-year old hubby and I turned on KZfaq and there you were! My surprised hubby said, "I didn't think Raw Beauty Kristi was doing makeup videos anymore." And then we both settled in for a OG RBK video ... and loved every second of it! Please do more! It was so much fun. Don't have a TikToc account and for the most part I really don't like KZfaq shorts. I like the feeling that I'm hanging out with friends ... I want to see what they are doing, and hear what they have to say ... the longer the better.

I wayyyy prefer long form. I listen while I do other things, so I enjoy actually learning a topic or hearing thoughts/conversation without having to change it. I consider shorts a “scroll hole” and I actually feel weird when I get stuck in that head space. The reality to stop and think about how bad it is for attention spans is wild. I mean gosh, in minutes you can potentially consume 50+ videos of varying content/topics. I also think it’s a driving force for misinformation. I no longer have TikTok because it too easily became a time-suck and distraction for me.

I never watch the Tok. I'm a KZfaq foreva! LOL, yes I'm GenX and I am not ashamed 😂 the longer video the better for me. I like makeup videos when I'm getting ready to go somewhere and plant/garden videos when I'm relaxing. I also love that you can learn to do literally anything on KZfaq. I’m typically the last to finally join a trend, but yes now I’m an avid TikTok watcher. It’s jarring when you first join because your bombarded with a bunch of teenage creators, but once you weed out the types of videos that you don’t like, it really is a pleasant experience. So many different genres in one place!

to this day i’ve never downloaded tiktok and i don’t regret it. nothing against people who use it, it’s just not for me personally bc i am very susceptible to mindless scrolling. i actually quit all social media years ago (ig, twitter (or whatever it’s becoming), etc.) and my mental health improved a lot as a result. short-form content has its appeal, but i find that it makes my attention span worse and i wouldn’t want to get to the point where i can’t even watch a 5min video or a movie in one sitting 😅

Hey kristi, it's been a while since you did a video like this. When I first saw your videos, I just became a stay at home mom. You gave me a sense of belonging and self-worth my newborn or husband couldn't give. I needed a womens opinion and voice and inspiration. I got that through watching you. Your two palettes were my very first palettes at 34ish. I love long detail videos but I'm 37 going on 38, and I'm not on the tiktoc trend, but go where the money is!! Do what's best for your family. We all got to keep growing and progressing. To hold on to the past is to get left behind. I will scream it from the roof tops: I LOVE long form makeup content!! I watch you, manny, Laura lee, Tati, etc when I do my hair, put on my makeup, take a bath, paint my toes/nails. short form content has its place no doubt, BUT i love youtube! Love having a get ready with me video playing while i get ready, or something going while i clean or even listening to long form content while I'm working from my laptop. I live for this eye look! And as for content, I go back and forth. Like sometimes I do want to mindlessly scroll and giggle and sometimes I wanna catch up on things. I don’t use tiktok a lot but I will watch reels and shorts on Instagram and KZfaq. I enjoy medium length content if that makes sense lol. I don't enjoy 1 min content because I get bored of that easily. But I also start to get bored if the content is an hour+ long. I feel like 20-45 min videos are the perfect length of time for me. That's why I love your videos! They are normally always within that 20-45 min time range where I can stay engaged and be entertained. Hope this helps 💜

I like both long and short form content. I will say, you’re one of the few KZfaqrs that I feel didn’t abandon their youtube channel when tiktok went off and so you’re one of the few beauty influencers that I used to watch on KZfaq and still do. I love your long videos! I do like tiktok though. I like watching KZfaq when im cleaning or using my hands because I can put it on and just let it go.

I’m definitely on TT, some may say even a little obsessed and even though I love the short form content, I think there’s a room for both since I find myself wanting long vs. short form content for different things. I would love to see you on TT but I also find that the way ur content presents itself is well suited for long form content
