Great explanation! Thanks 👍 I'm still searching for the right app. My problem with most of the modern note apps: they are constructed for desktop in the first place and often don't even have a proper Android app - e.g. Anytype: only a beta, Logseq: no official one - or you almost need to be a tech nerd to understand/set up even the synch function. I'm on the road almost every day but without a laptop, so I need something designed for Android in the first place, which I can synch with Win in the second place 😅

It might be while for the Anytype mobile app to meet your needs. The UX is better than Notion mobile but there is many missing features still.

I've installed Anytype but cant see the Getting Started page which you describe in this video. Not sure why they removed it, but seems very helpful with embedded links to other pages...

The app has changed a lot since that original video. I think now there are more pop-ups to guide you in the app. But the orientation / onboarding still needs more work to be beginner friendly.

How can I import a large number of notes about movies from another place into Anytype? Do I have to copy them one by one?

I haven't done much testing on importing from other apps. There are a few import options including markdown, HTML, and CSV spreadsheets.

About the network choices is this not available for mobile?

For iOS app the gear icon is on the top right corner on the login page, but I don't have an Android phone. You could ask in the community.anytype.io/

You can now find the gear icon for changing the network for Android with the recent update 0.28.9 released 2024.03.11!

Page, Document, Idea, Note.... They all look the same, why bother?

You can keep everything as a page, but the advantage of different “types” is for easier sorting and filtering.

And where are the file store on your computer I mean it just doesn't seem like you can choose where you want to store it at I mean it defeats the purpose of it being called a local storage only. I mean I don't know of anybody who will use their C drive especially when you have a lot of files that you're going to be putting into this that just wouldn't make any sense nobody has a lot of space in their C drive it's virtually simply for running some programs but it's not meant for storage or wherever your C drive letter might be but as far as I know c drive is the most common and everybody using it whenever you use it for storage it's just ludicrous to think that one would just store everything on the CD drive.

On a Mac the files are in User/Library/Application Support/Anytype. Customized local storage I think is planned for the future. Depends on your use case, if just using Anytype for short journal entries, C drive is enough for some folks.

@@FocusedCuriosity I just don't like the editing mode either sense you have to work in a smaller window that pop-ups! Like why go that extra mile or two and for making it worst for? There shouldn't be any pop-ups just work directly on the notes from where it is.

@@artmanstudios7037 Yes, the UX could be better without the pop-up screen, or at least a choice to customize your preference.
