School for AoE4, great idea, lets go! So needed for all the new players. Can you cover topics like food gathering strategies, when to build military bldgs and how many, how to scout efficiently and any tips on how to keep making vills while reducing that darn idle villager time. There are a ton of good topics but these are the ones I can't find good answers to from other aoe4 content creators. Thanks!!

As someone new to AOE4, your channel has been both entertaining and educational. Binge watching this series as I play. Keep up the amazing work! I think a guide on moving up ages could be useful (how to execute a caste/feudal rush). Thank you again!

Thats a good way of putting it tbh. With aggression, your focus is winning via making a bigger army before your enemy. Hopefully as early as possible. While with boom, you are building up a huge army that'll overwhelm an unoptimized enemy. Mainly with some type of super unit. Defense is more of a tool for booming, as eventually you will need to attack to win. I havent played AoE4 yet, but that checks out for other RTS too.

I'm a total noob but I can see already that I much prefer a feudal aggression and it's mainly because I'm not good at managing a large economy. Flooding the field with units early and being hyper-aggressive is more straightforward & is less about APM and more about micro.

I was a huge aggressive players early on and played Dehli, I also played HRE but their boom is more about a fast castle into fighting so an aggressive boom I realized though that my lack of late game Macro ability was a huge weakness. I sucked at defending and if the game went late castle and imperial I was so bad at eco balancing and how late game fighting So after that I mained China for an awhile to force myself to learn macro, defense and late game play. I dropped from conquerer to low diamond (even dipped high plat a couple times) but I came out as a much more well rounded player who understands the theory of the game a lot better Just wanted to give my experience. I totally get players especially new leaning aggressive but there is a lot to gain from throwing yourself into the deep end and learning all the skills the game requires

@@RTS_Papercut-bo7qt You're absolutely right of course and I'm moving in that direction. You have to attack and improve your weaknesses instead of playing around them or you'll only be able to win one kind of game. So far I find the English the best for me for both early and late game so I'm focusing on them and the Japanese at the moment.

Going super aggressive in Dark Age is too risky. If your offense fails, you will have a very hard time catching up. Aggression during Feudal is more sustainable as you will be able to attack and continue produce villagers. Moreover Feudal units are more versatile and can deliver a killing blow, while Dark Age units cannot. At the beginning of the game you will win if you play on your civ's strengths when choosing an early army composition, good micro and having a scout around your army at all times. Allow your enemy to make mistakes, dont expose your army's composition. Lay ambushes. Have a semi vulnerable force e.g. spears rush forward in search of the enemy while keeping another force of supporting horsemen or archers somewhere further back. Let the enemy give pursuit while you withdraw your spears, and then attack them with your supporting units and spears. When raidiing slip your units deep in the enemy base between the villagers and their tc. Then attack for maximum kills. Finally information is key. NEVER EVER start an attack without a scout in your army. Unless you want to be ambushed and cleaned up.

I guess English worth mentioning in both playstyles, cause the most new players play eng, and should know that you can boom and play defensive with English very efficient. Also worth mentioning how different civs transit into farms cause it’s one of the most factors that dictates can this civ be played defensively of not
@RTS_Papercut-bo7qt

English can totally be played as boom and have advantages to do so. The way I view it though is that their optimal use and most likely to get value by the average player is aggressive,

How would you order the civs from most aggressive to most boomy?
@RTS_Papercut-bo7qt
@RTS_Papercut-bo7qt 6 ай бұрын
I would say the spectrum is pretty wide, I can mostly give the outliers as the rest float in the middle Most aggressive: Dehli, Jeanne d’Arc, French, English Most boomy: Abbasid, China, Malian As always, you can play any civ any style (and in fact playing a civ the opposite of what people assume you are gonna do is a good strat sometimes to get an upper hand) but based on their bonuses that’s what people tend to do with them

So is defensive just so weak it’s not worth mentioning? I thought the whole idea of AoE was the triangle of strategies(aggro def boom) and the rock paper scissors (lizard Spock?) of units(spears > cav, archers > spears, horsemen > archers and crossbows, knights > MAA, MAA > archers, crossbows > Knights and MAA, archers > crossbows, handcannoneers > everything)? So where’s the defensive strat here? Is that basically a light boom?
@RTS_Papercut-bo7qt
@RTS_Papercut-bo7qt 6 ай бұрын
I condensed defensive into boom. I have watched other players use the triangle of play style but after thinking through it myself I decided defensive and boom are one and the same. If you are defensive your goal is almost always economic advantage, and when you boom you naturally have to defend to succeed in that. Thats why I did the spectrum of aggressive and booming.
