The first campaign is somewhat based in history. The Siege of Malta, the Seven Years' War, the struggle to build the First Transcontinental Railroad, Bolivar's Revolt, and Russian colonialism in America were all real.

there were some big names in the Blood Ice and Steel Campaign's VOs... including Jennifer Hale and Nolan North. I doubt they'd be willing to just discard their recorded lines

26:14 Yes Guardian Attack is only against units protecting treasures; and the reason for having a separate attack against them (like the Lancer here) is to show your unit doesn't have any bonuses against treasure guardians (eg. the Lancer wont do 3x against infantry when facing guardians)

The mirco in Aoe feels clunky because of the unit slow down mechanics. When a unit takes damage they move about half speed for a millisecond. I believe its called snaring in the competitive scene.

Malta became British in 1813.the order of Saint Jhon is the Order of Knights of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem. Known as order of Malta or order of the knights hospitaller. It is a thing, still today BTW. Maybe not a faction in the game, but a very very real thing nonetheless

About video games where ennemi buildings explosions don't damage units: there was a game published around the same time as aoc named Cossaks that dealt with the same history period as AoE3 (1600-1800) where when things exploded debris could damage any unit hanging around. So you better watch out and attack buildings from a safe distance. It was really a good game.

Looking back I used to dislike AOE 3, but going back like, what, 20 years later? I actually think AOE3's campaigns are my favorite.

Fun fact. The Ottomans comes from a Turkish tribe. They originate North East of the Black sea.

In AoE2 I know which units counter the enemies units and use it. In AoE3 I just build units that I like.

I believe hussars are light cav and they are weak to ranged cav and heavy infantry. Im pretty sure heavy cav is shipment only.

Just like on AOM it only shows your score because unlike in AOE2, here you have a few separate AI for each enemy like one Ottoman AI is a main base, second are the defenders of weapon Cache etc. It would be wierd to see three Ottoman AI with the same colour especially that sometimes the total number of players in the campaign can be even 12 or maybe more, I can't remember exacly. Additionally it would be wierd to see score of the enemy when the game says "you have almost defeated idk, the Aztec" and they still have like 5000 more score than you. It's just a different approach to these things.

What did I hear? The Knights of St. John arent real? WTF? Im disappointed. They were absolutely real and held on the Island of Malta for centuries. You know them under the name of "Knights Hospitaller". after 1291 the the former crusader Knights became a major naval force in the meditaranian, first from Rhodos and Cyprus, later from Malta (in 1798 they surredered to Napoleon).

I haven't tried AOE3 DE yet, but I remember that original AOE3 was too easy & boring even on Hard difficulty.

Saw a video title complaining about a disclaimer shown at the beginning of this about any inaccuracies relating to the Native Civilizations. (It's funny how people say others shouldn't make a big deal about these things while they themselves are making a big deal. It's an immediate self contradiction, if ever there was one.) Personally I think It's the prerogative of the game publisher's/developers to make such a note. Especially during a time of increased tensions over insensitive portrayals of indigenous peoples.

I think it’s just me... I prefer Ao2 than Ao3...Ao3 is too “3D” for me... there’s something in it’s graphics that I don’t like.
