I know getting older is a part of life but damn I can’t help but feel depressed. Sounds dumb but logging on to AIM chat and talking to friends and going to chat rooms were some of the best times of my then young life. Everything was so much simpler back then yet it was considered advanced for the time. Will always hold those memories dear.

Agree 100%, it was amazing. I remember getting my own PC in my room in 2003, an old Pentium 2 that I cleaned and reinstalled Windows 2000 on it fresh, just used it for basic stuff, AIM ran great on it. Being on AIM all night, so many memories

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPSIE! I had the screenname of the girlfriend of someone I REALLY REALLY liked on my buddylist. It was similar to someone else I knew. I accidentally messaged her one day! She didn't know who I was thankfully and It was easy to lie and say "I was looking for my friend who has a similar name so I was just trying names". My screen name COULD HAVE given me away if she told her BF (my crush) so who knows if she did or not.

Who remembers using AIm Profiles even before Mysapce was around/popular. Everyone would "pimp" their account out with colorful custom themes and backgrounds. We would post surveys that would let our friends get to know us more & for our friends to also do. I feel like 5th-7th grade we would use it. But even by 6th grade I had a myspace account 06ish. AIM helped with my popularity a lot as a kid. I would talk to all the girls n school and some I would message I wouldn't even speak to while at school. It's like we were just in different crowds but knew eachother on a deep level because of aim. I wish we could go back n see our old messages, same with myspace

Aim was so much a part of my life from 98-??? but sadlly it comes w// a lot of crap too. I was in a very toxic relationship for 11 yrs and he used to me to buy a computer for himself (that I used too lol)... ok. so he did me a SLIGHT favor because it awakened my love of technology and I took it and ran (but he was better at it) ANYWHOOOO.... I used to always try to catch him cheating and had his sound set as the cash register because money was his drug (clearly since he used me to buy him a $2000 computer in 1998). So ANYWAY....he was the cash register and the one woman he was cheating with for years I made the cow lmao. I feel instant anxiety when I hear those sounds. Everything I went through for 11 years comes right back to me. So much shit... I've been free of him for 15 years and now child support is done (yes I had a kid w/ him but I wouldn't change that part for the world), and I DON'T EVER HAVE TO TALK TO HIM AGAIN!!!!!
