I retired from the Army in 2018 and I just yesterday admitted to a VA counselor that I have PTSD and I am finally going to start treatment. Watching these podcasts really helped me admit my issues

I was in Helmand back in 10’ and 11’ and had CAS from apaches on several occations while on patrol. AH-64 and A-10 is the definition of force multipliers for a guy on the ground - we love those dudes. Great interview!

I'm here to stay connected to the veteran community. I served in the marine corps and deployed to Afghanistan. I didn't do much but I have my fair share of problems and I definitely feel like others have had it worse. And I work with a guy (same building different department) that was a 160th crew chief.

I was an Apache Crew Chief. On the subject of experiences and PTSD, it’s definitely relative. I definitely struggled a lot when I got home and I had to get myself help. My behavior was very much driven by extreme anxiety and depression. I talk with a lot of veterans from all walks of life and when you drop those titles and ego built from belonging to separate communities, you can really relate to any of them. Doesn’t matter what you were and what you did, we all deal with the same sort of conditions. I didnt really talk about certain things at first until a therapist told me I should-just to let it out and decompress. Now I’m a pretty open book but I try to just keep it antidotal and intend to not make myself seem as someone special. Just sharing stories and sentiments to help ease my mind. And it helps a lot to listen to other stories or interviews of other veterans.

I'm so glad I found this, because Ryan always so casually mentions "I was an attack helicopter pilot and CIA operative over a 15 year career" and just stops and moves on and I keep listening to his channel going HOW CAN YOU JUST BRUSH OVER THAT AND NOT SPILL 😂

The fix-wing aircraft is a civilian version of the King Air 350 which is what my son is going now

Hey Georgetown law grad myself then 23 year career as an Army MP then retired JAG lawyer

On the visualization point, when I went through infantry OSUT in 2019, the Army hired sport psychologists to come in and talk to us about visualization and some other things. Unfortunately our drill sergeants called them retarded (to us, not to them) and told us not to listen to them but there's apparently an effort from the Army to teach visualization to basic Infantrymen now.

I am sorry I just discovered this channel. But now I am gladly playing catch-up. I'll take a shower eventually
