(10 Jul 2018) Austria has introduced border controls ahead of the upcoming meeting of EU interior ministers in Innsbruck this week.
There are checkpoints at the border between Italy and Austria at Brenner pass and between Germany and Austria.
The border controls were introduced on Monday and will continue until Friday.
A spokesman for Austrian Federal Police in Innsbruck said on Tuesday the main purpose of the controls is to keep potential troublemakers as far away as possible from Innsbruck.
Stefan Eder stressed that the temporary border controls were "definitely not about illegal immigrants."
