The downing of two Syrian helicopters by Israeli jets led to the Syrians placing air-to-air missiles on Lebanese soil. To defuse the crisis and avert a new Mid-East war, US envoy, Philip Habib, has begun an urgent diplomatic shuttle between the capitals of Israel, Syria and the Lebanon.
