"I know one way we can help, and that is to encourage our business leaders to take a good look at the economic opportunities that Northern Ireland presents. And so I welcome you here. I'm proud of your accomplishments."

"We have had our political squabbles and fights. I think we have come to the end of that. I think that peace has come, there will be a fight for peace. You don't win peace, you have to fight to keep it. And we intend to do that. We're dedicated to that. But we do need help in the economic field."
4. SOUNDBITE: (English) Martin McGuinness, Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland and former Irish Republican Army leader
"Up until the 26th of March this year, Ian Paisley and I never had a conversation about anything (laughter), not even about the weather. And now we have worked very closely together over the course of the last seven months, and there hasn't been an angry word between us. So I think that clearly shows we are set for a new course."

"We do need help from people that know the American market and know what is happening in the American market and we are not saying today that we're with a begging bowl but we're saying, you come with us we will do you good and you will do us good. That's what our message is."

"The two administrations, the Clinton administration and the Bush administration for the tremendous support and encouragement that they gave us. Without that support the success of the process that we have been part of certainly would not have been as great as it is at this moment."

STORYLINE:
US President George W. Bush and US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, the leading US Democratic presidential contender, met on Friday with Northern Ireland's once-bitter enemies now joined in peaceful power-sharing.
Northern Ireland's First Minister and Protestant leader Ian Paisley and Deputy First Minister and former Irish Republican Army leader Martin McGuinness met with Clinton at a hotel ahead of a White House visit later in the day with President George W. Bush.
The two are visiting to drum up US investment in Northern Ireland.

"I'm proud of your accomplishments," he added.

We won't see their like again. Two skillfull and articulate supporters of power sharing. I think Paisley really inspired Martin. He treated him with respect and received it back. If only or current politicians could follow their example. Good bless both, Ian and Martin.

Quite incredible to look back on these two men now and see them as individuals who brought peace to a divided country. The current executive look like a complete embarrassment in comparison.

For me, both of their legacies are difficult. They were undoubtedly were responsible for some terrible things in their lives. Ultimately, I like to believe their real selves shone through in what they achieved. How Northern Ireland misses the "Chuckle Brothers." They would have sorted things out for sure. Neither were perfect but I hope both RIP.
