Enjoyed that, learned a decent amount. I do have two minor counterpoints: 1) I am sure you are just hand waving it away for simplicity but f numbers are not just numbers they are the ratio of the size of the iris to the focal length. 2) If you want to shoot wildlife using any mode that is relying on the camera's automatic metering you can can use exposure compensation to calibrate the 17% grey to something else. If you are shooting a bird against a bright sky for instance dial back exposure 2 or three stops. As someone less skilled at birds this works well. You shoot manual with auto ISO the camera gives its best guess and you then tweak it. You have the advantage of being able to set your own shutter speed and depth of field. The camera attempts to correctly expose the scene and you get to correct that to your preference. It also has the advantage that once you have your settings where you like you are mostly just messing with one dial.

Hi, agreed on point 1 but for beginners and amateurs those facts are irrelevant and I myself don't use them in my real world photography. Point 2 - I have tried all the variations using auto ISO but none worked for me, as I said in the vlog, if it works for you then great, but for me its garbage unless the scene is lit with average lighting. I find it far simpler to adjust manually on the fly, again its a matter of choice but as Ive done this for a considerable number of years I doubt that I will change anytime soon as I now have a system in place that works for me. This can be seen in the shots that I produce. Living in England as I do the weather is all over the shop on a daily basis, oh to live in a Country where the daily lighting was always the same!!!!! Thanks for watching though and happy snapping.

Ah, thanks Richard, I hope it goes some way to helping your understanding. There are many videos regarding this subject, some are much more detailed than my explanation & perhaps clearer but, I was trying to get across why I use full manual control when out shooting. Many thanks for watching & the kind words, appreciated.

Hello. Manual mode way to go. ISO on auto, Shutter speed up to your lens capability (high enough to remove blure = double of focal lengt), F number to the sharpest possible for you lens and focal length. You need to feel you lens!

Agreed with manual mode but Auto ISO is hit and miss so I tend to avoid it. I will make a vlog regarding Auto ISO and upload it with some images to show just how bad it can be. Not the fault of Auto ISO but a sad fact of how camera exposure meters get confused.

Doesn't really make much sense. Keep the Camera in Aperture Priority with Widest Possible Aperture and you force the Camera to shoot at the highest possible Shutter Speed and lowest possible depth of field, makes life more simple

As I said, if you watched the complete video, Aperture priority has its limitations as sadly the camera's exposure meter will at times give you the wrong exposures, especially when shooting with the sky in the frame or in low light conditions, for full control over the shutter, aperture & exposure you have to use "Manual Mode" and that is what you will always find professional photographers have their camera's set to, thanks for the comment though.
