Now that just no. yeah it would look good on them and it would be good for us but you have to remember at the end of the day they are a business. Imagine the amount of money they lose out, I wouldn't doubt heirlooms are their main way of money so just giving everyone who played the game a free one is stupid since they lose out on millions or perhaps billions by doing this.

It was leaked for a while that was an idea they had to give everyone a free katar and then buy your upgrades. I still think this is a possibility is the katar doesn’t to very well. I can see them making the base katar free and obviously compensation anyone who purchased it with shards, maybe giving them their shards back.

@@felipezamora9711 Sure, whales will buy one no matter what, but actually most people would be more inclined to buy the upgrades if they already have the base version, myself included. A large amount of people spending a small amount of money can make more than a small amount of people spending a larger amount of money. Also unless you're an investor or a board head, why do you care how much money EA makes off of microtransactions?

Apex legends is just a milk machine for respawn and Ea so that they can make other games. Probably the reason why respawn made the star wars game is that thanks to apex giving them the big bucks they are able to make a Star Wars game in the first place.

I disagree. This whole “yeah it’s bad, but at least it’s not as bad as when they ____” is exactly what they want you saying. Sure, it’s not like the previous events where you buy packs nonstop for a ridiculously small chance of getting what you want, but $40 to complete just one set is still insane. And that’s not even accounting for the fact that you first need to drop 150 heirloom shards on a soulless gray blade with nothing special to it.

I'm not trying to defend anything, but the game is literally f2p, you can just buy the battle pass for 10 bucks and after that you have to spend 0$ to enjoy the game. Also you get tons of skins and whatnot through your gameplay.. You can't be mad at such things, you either buy it or don't.

I just want the green electric one and purple one maybe the base blue but that will cost my soul and 230$ I think to get it outright if I even have rhe heirloom shards for the bade which I don't right now and I'm like atleast 260 packs away from my guaranteed which will be my 3rd heirloom but that's gonna take me atleast 2 years if I domt grind non stop everyday and average well without a squad cause exp comes much faster with a team with the BP aswell I think so yeah this is just bad for everybody involved and I hope they change it so you can unlock the base katar through a set of legend and weapon challenges and just playing every game mode or cheapen it to like 120 exotic shards 1 mill legend tokens 40k crafting metals 10k coins something which is like 100$ which is more than enough for a default blade than having to slowly unlock the styles through BP or events or hear me out give us exotic shards through some kinda mode or challenges over time it doesn't have to be much 10-5 even 1 as long as it's something something is better than nothing right now it just feels soulless and a cop out I don't like it and I don't want it even with all the customization options and gl to anyone who wants whatever mid tier artifacts they come up with because this is what you can expect to get all of them apm did it better imo

I'm crazy disappointed with the direction Apex has gone. I remember how disastrously the very first Heirloom event went (Bloodhounds) partly because you had to buy the heirloom after getting all collection event items BUT ALSO because you had to spend money on everything. They apologized and said that all future events would allow multiple currencies. But now they have events again where it's money only, like the Katar was and like the Caustic skin in the store right now is.

The fact you have to use 150 heirloom shards on the base katar, which doesn't even come with a banner frame or pose is ludicrous. Especially because you then have to spend 5 seasons grinding the passes or paying out a bit less than £40 for 50 exotic shards to have a complete heirloom is insane. Imagine if when you bought the other heirlooms you had to pay more to get the banner, voice lines, finishers, lighting effects & inspect animations, it wouldn't be worth it so neither is the Katar. My friend is a whale & owns all the heirlooms, mythics & katars. He thinks the Katar is worth the price because it can be used on any legend, but I don't agree because the base version has nothing with it as I just explained & it's not as interesting as legend specific heirlooms.

I feel like people are a little misinformed how it works. You dont need to fully buy all the katars before you get the nitride one. Once you buy all the other basic modles for the other katars, you unlock the basic model of the nitride, if you want the color scheme of the nitride, you need to unlock all other color schemes, the same goes for the power core, activation emote, and the deathbox. It's still stupid its set up that way instead of just being able to buy the nitride parts directly but at least if you just want the color scheme you dont need buy literally everything, you just need to buy up to the color schemes. Which is also a second thing that is stupid; if you just want the power core of one set, you need to buy the base model and the color scheme.

They should make a use for having 150 heirloom shards. Make the katar base 50 shards or 100, ever since I’ve started playing apex I’ve never understood the logic behind having 150 and spending 150 all in one go, they might as well just make a singular heirloom token or voucher instead

Honestly they shoulda made the base cost 20-50 exotic shards and All upgrades 10 shards, but they coulda made it like heirloom shards where there’s a chance to get anywhere from 10-50 shards every 50-75 packs so it’s easier to get than heirlooms but takes longer.

Let me remind everyone that we are only able to get 10 shards once for this battlepass. To be able to get anything in the shop you need to save up for 5/4 more battlepasses to get anything. Which still makes it a cashgrab.

Currently level 700+ with only one heirloom that i got 2 years ago from a random pack. Saw someone say this was all a good business decision. Besides battle passes i am definitely NOT paying for anything else in this game because of these tactics. So i ask you, me being the average consumer who has now been pushed away from buying anything more because of this strategy, was this really a smart business decision?

I wouldn’t have that big of an issue with what they’re doing here if you at least got enough exotic shards for a reactive skin or full katar set from completing the battlepass like overwatch is doing. I’m genuinely just waiting for a major lawsuit to happen as a result of “gotcha”- which is really just gambling. Gambling is something that needs to be regulated. There is a reason we have established legislation around minors not gambling. So how is gambling on a live service game ok? It isn’t.

I know this is off-topic, but shouldn't reactive skins have their own rarity instead of legendary? They're a truly unique kind of weapon skin, so I think they deserve the Red/Mythic tier instead of Legendary.

Katar is not worth it because not only you have to spend heirloom shards first (and you don't even get one full set right off start), you also have to grind for like 3 seasons just to get to the "effect" slot of one of the sets. And to get a whole set you have to grind for 5 seasons. I think katar will be way better if you wouldn't need to spend heirloom shards first

You get 10 shards per battlepass. This means it will take you 5 seasons to get one of those reactive skins plus another few seasons for the katar upgrades. It will take you well over a year. If we consider each battlepass as 60 days (this season is 88)... 60×5 for one reactive skin + 60× 4 for one full upgrade path of katar (not including the katar itself) is 540 days. To get everything would be (24×60 = 1440) + (100×60 = 6000) = 7440 days. I'll have to sacrifice my firstborn to afford this.

Of only they realized how much MOOONEY they would make if thousands of people spend 10-20$ at the season opening on the Katars* + the thousands (although fewer) of people that spend 40-80$ dollars about a month later on the r9 & flat skin and how that money could possibly ease the pressure on budget needed for the upcoming events this season… but if that would not be enough then these people/EA are overspending on cosmetic making or greed has taken over the Apex team but as they say “… keep your opinions to yourself” right??😐

Solution to everyone’s problems. Don’t buy cosmetics. All it does is show you’re willing to give them money for nothing and makes them more inclined to pump out skins then work on the game. I mainly play rocket league and i hate watching the game get neglected, in some cases worsened, while still seeing a new cosmetic item event every couple of weeks. Stop giving these people money and maby they’ll work on the quality of their game rather than how much they can charge for a battle pass.

Why isn’t “chanced based” digital merchandise not illegal? I think game publishers need to be audited and reviewed by the appropriate legal parties. I’d say a fair amount of its player base is underage, and this game has a T-rating. Chance and Gacha based systems should be held to higher scrutiny. Especially for a company as low as EA.

It's obviously not. The gun run maybe fun (kinda?), though it's mostly annoying cause you have to cope with guns you never use, plus it's not 6v6 but 3v3v3v3 so all matches are pure chaos. It's bad for warming up, it's not fun, it's not good for quick fights cause you're not using what you want to. Tdm is objectively the best and most fun mixtape mode. Control has too much people in it, and because of what this gamemode about there are a lot of rats which is annoying

@@zatupich Oh no, not mixtape mode. It's the best mode period. Over the actual BR. And if you aren't using guns you're not used to then you're not going to improve. You will end up losing a lot of fights early if you just happen to get the 3030 and can't use it. So arguing that it's bad because you get guns you don't know how to use is pointless, just learn how to use them. TDM sucks because every map right now is "Take high ground, snipe or camp." And that's so incredibly boring.

I have spent maybe 60$ on Apex since season 5 when i started playing and it was for the battle passes and i had a few that i paid for by saving my coins from the previous battle passes. This game is definitely a money grab but the upside is at least most cosmetics and stuff dont change anything in the game other than maybe your finsher speed so no pay to win. I think their greedy as all get out and they will always find a way to make a quick million. I have an awesome idea though fix the actual game 😂

Dont buy the reactives please we already messed up the heirlooms after the final fantasy event and now we wont get legend heirloom and dont want to loose the reactives from battle pass too 😢

im lvl 650 bought around 5 bp aslo bought some packs aswell still no heilroom btw that eventually sounds too far off to me

Considering I have had 150 heirloom shards sitting in my account for over a year and a half just gathering dust, this katar system was a no brainer for me. A universal melee weapon I can use on any legend and customize? Yes the customization may cost extra, but I can personalize a set for each legend and it’s honestly pretty cool

Pretty much this. People assume that you must pay the $50 off the bat rather than simply grinding through the pass or even forking over $10 when you have the chance to build through there. I get that it's not lore related or provide some quip or banner, but when the devs are putting character specific heirlooms to the side for now due to the customization of the Katar, you really don't have much of a choice for people who play legends that have yet to get an heirloom, or when you have to switch legends.

@@arctictropic1147 I assume they will only add more sets as time goes on. Unless they decide to release another artifact with its own set, which I doubt. I think they’ll just be adding more katar sets with time
