Aplastic anaemia is a rare disease in which the bone marrow and the hematopoietic stem cells that reside there are damaged.This causes a deficiency of all three blood cell types (pancytopenia): red blood cells (anemia), white blood cells (leukopenia), and platelets (thrombocytopenia). Aplastic refers to the inability of stem cells to generate mature blood cells.
It is more frequent in people in their teens and twenties, but is also common among the elderly. It can be caused by heredity, immune disease, or exposure to chemicals, drugs, or radiation. However, in about half the cases, the cause is unknown.
The definitive diagnosis is by bone marrow biopsy; normal bone marrow has 30-70% blood stem cells, but in aplastic anaemia, these cells are mostly gone and replaced by fat.

Patients suffering from aplastic anemia has to be very strong mentally. May Almighty ease the suffering of the persons suffering from aplastic anemia.

@@annauchechi1959 ..... It's a horrible feeling to go through tests after tests , transfusion after transfusion. Believe me ... Don't read the reports , don't Google anything. Stay positive and calm. God Almighty who runs this entire universe is All Knowing and Omnipotent, he will change your ill health into good health and prosperity, just trust Him. Stay positive. You will be a winner.

My brother had Aplastic anemia in the late 70s thru early 80s. All the bleeding and blood transfusions. I think about him every day. He was only 24.😔

Bro same with my 20 years old big brother. he had this disease, he got bone marrow transplant by a donor and the operation went successfully but still he passed away after 4 days smth 😭

My son had severe aplastic anemia n he was on cyclosporine n I prayed he had it in 1988 n he survived

I just left the hospital after going for collapsing. Hemoglobin was 6.9! After 3 blood transfusions, I only got up to 8.4. I have a follow up appointment Thursday to discuss having this disorder.

I have aplastic anemia. It's has been 2yrs taking medication and need go to hospital every 3 months for check up. I think im doing fine but if I stop taking my medicine always felt soo tired and dizzy.
