I'm Turk , living in Izmir. My grandparents came to Izmir from Thessolaniki and Kos Island. So i growth with both culture which is %99.9 same . My grandfather (RIP) was watching Turkish news at TRT(Turkish Radio Television) then he was switching to EPT for Greeks. We dont need to have harm feelings on eachothers. Cause we are like an half piece of apple. Family, food, culture, dance etc. And :) gladly i have Greek gf now and am extremely happy with her . Cheers bro's from two side.

drwladimirdr You know that the Croatian Ustaša militia killed more Serbians than the occupation of the Ottomans. Study history properly and hate those that really did injustice to your people during WW2. During the Ottoman occupation, a lot of Serbs and Croats plus other ethnic groups collaborated with the Ottomans to steal and kill from their people to get money and rewards from the Ottoman rulers. Unfortunately, it is your people who did the most cruelty towards your own people. I am not saying that the Ottoman rulers were not saints but as I said the greed of the people turned on one another. These were very sad and hard times in history. Between the Ottomans and Serbs, there were over 60 battles and so many sieges. In a battle, the casualties are from warring two parties and thus these are casualties in wars. I am not condoning the expansion of an Empire but this was how Empires grew. I dislike fanatic nationalism but it destroys any kind of unity amongst cultures.

aman aman.. haha don't know if greeks use this expression but it is very common for songs here in turkey. I have written my thesis on a greek village in imvros and I came to know many great greeks in that village. However they told me super sad stories about the past, so did turkish people. the both nations have suffered a lot, but i truly believe that it will all be better after all. my father is a turk and my mother is a greek :) I like greeks pretty much, quite easy-going and friendly people! amazed by their local cultures and great sense of humour. Let's pray for the safety of both nations. :)

Communication with Turks is something very easy, sharing something more than some common characteristics in culture and history bad occasions. It's again and again nice to hear this song, remembering the years in Istanbul. The combination of Bouzouki and Kanûn sounds very well, and in the background the classic type of music from Istanbul at the beginning of the song ...

This song never fails to reduce me to tears and I dont understand Turkish! This the first time Ive heard in Greek, which I do understand and realise that the title means from a foreign land Is this correct? çok teşekkür ederim and ευχαριστώ for this video; may Greek and Turkish friendship and mutual understanding keep growing. PS. I still prefer the Turkish version!

i see those greeks and turks who know history and admit to their faults as brother-like, but it is not true that they share the same blood. greeks are europid and some are mixed with ottomans, therefore euro and mongolid. turks are mongolid and the exact opposite happening, some of them mixed with euro. i found greece to be much more open minded while traveling. i think the past can be cured by this beautiful music. greek-turkish music is the best! greetings from england
