Hellooo, Internetians! I had a chance to put my hands on an Apogee Symphony Desktop interface, so I could aks a question: is it still a thing in 2024, almost five years after its premiere? Let's find out!

Thanks Paul 🙏🏻! Apogee has one of the best sounding converters out there. The Symphony Desktop is a fantastic device, if you care about sound the most. Great headphone amp also. PreAmps are clean with a lot of gain. and you can get also the Apogee Plugin Bundle with the purchase I guess. But I only would get it in combination with Logic Pro X. Also, Apogee supports their products some quite some years after their end of life. Not as long as RME, but still. Also they have great support, they don’t match RME, but they are also very supportive. A bit out of fashion, but still great quality. All in all you can’t go wrong with the Symphony Desktop. I would suggest it’s converters are good enough for professional mastering sessions.

With which model of rme ucf you compare, ucx 2 40 channel? How you would compare it with neuman mr48 because it was my another option. I saw your other video review. Did you know if gate plugin from neuman is better than a compressor from apogee?

Would love to hear more about your experience of the MT 48 vs this? From my memory I think I actually preferred the Apogee DAC, but now have the MT 48 because of more inputs. But I may go back...

When I watch your wideo I always have a problem with harshness in your vocal, but I think Symphony Desktop could help you with that :D It's as you said - smoother and somehow... sweeter in the high end? I tried SD sometime ago and it sound spectacular. I also had the same revelation as you hearing more depth in sound field.

My "sshhh" and "ssss" are strong naturally. I use Rode NTG-3 for vlogging, I also use heavy deessing. Thanks for bearing with me ;)

I have the Apogee Quartet, which has A/D conversion offering a dynamic range of 114dB (A-weighted) and D/A providing an extremely healthy 123dB of dynamic range. Is it worth the upgrade to this symphony desktop? thoughts?

3dB is twice as loud, so difference of 9dB in A/D and 6dB in D/A should make a difference, but I didn't compared them. SD was based on Symphony I/O Mk2 and it sounds very similar. If quality is crucial to you it should make sense to change, but if your Quartet is still working properly and you like what you hear... the choice is yours.

RME uses AKM chips again in their latest interfaces.. ufxiii, ufxii (rev2024), 802 fs. ESS was a temporary substitution when it was a problem with akm factory

Apogee zawsze miałem na celowniku choć od zawsze był dedykowany do MAC a ja jeszcze siedzę na PC słyszałem że również niektóre działają na PC ale jakoś nie słyszałem żadnych info od użytkowników

Obecnie tylko najwyższy model, czyli Symphony I/O Mk2 jest dedykowany pod Maca - reszta również śmiga na PCtach :)

I prefer the RME I'm afraid. The sibilance was not as nice. However i would Deess both so its not a big deal, I think very tiny differences and different speakers might reveal others things. Its too small to care about.

If you don’t think convertors or conversion matters I can promise you they never had it because it would be hell to go backwards! The quality would just not be the same!

Recently changed Apollo X4 to Symphony Desktop and yesss, Apogee is much better

@@gmt4192 about 3 months, though i bought it used. I am sending it to apogee to see what they can do. I bought an antelope audio DC 8 pro which i am loving. I now have the ability to patch in all my hardware units in my mastering chain or mix seasons. Though i run on a mac

I couldn’t comment further below and it got silly in the post. Don’t waste your time worrying too much over converters. I doubt anyone cares on what interface is used. Despite my views I had some negativity, I wont record something 50x. I have decided to try to see what its like. I doubt I will be that bothered. I monitor on amphions with sub and iloud MTMs in a treated room. I have a test unit on order to compare myself. I might be sending it back but lets see if the fanboys below are right?
