Something over ten years ago I wrote something that I recently found out that there are people hurt and or offended by it and for that, I'm sincerely sorry.

To everyone saying "he should have/didn't have to apologize," I believe you are missing the point. You are right, he didn't HAVE to. He wanted to. He hurt people with his words. Should they or shouldn't they have been offended? That isn't the point. The only thing that was important to him was, "I said things that hurt people." Not why.. Not who was right or wrong.. Just that he unintentionally did, and he never meant for anyone to be hurt. He apologized only because he wanted to, not because he had to. That is the mark of a kind and warm soul, and one the world is a bit lesser for no longer having it. This video encapsulates his humanity and his legacy. He just cared for people. We need more like him. Rest well TFC. I hope we can make this world deserve people like you some day.

So when Tinfoil grew up homosexuality was still illegal in all US states. That's what he grew up with. When he says people should be who they want to be, that's genuinely what made his generation legalise homosexuality. He made a statement trying not to bring up the issue _among other issues_ because he wanted to protect people from getting offended or hurt. Did you guys really bash him for that? Who the f**k bashed him for that? What's wrong with you? When you bash and hurt people who tries to protect you, what exactly do you think you gain? This isn't Mumbo Jumbo we're talking about, get some perspective people! Like I fully get that not wanting to talk about homosexuality because you want to avoid politics on your channel is treating some people's sexuality as "political" and thus it's offensive. I agree with that. But guys, this dude did not grow up with Grian or Gemini. Like, don't you guys get that during his formative years as a child people were sent to jail for having homosexual sex? He is clearly supportive!! My grandmother, even older than tinfoil, she was a progressive all her life. She was fighting for people's lives and rights, all her life. She was one of those people who were explicitly for homosexual rights, back when it was illegal. She supported gay marriage way before it was trending. Even when her husband and half her friends were catholic, she still raised her voice for homosexual rights. And I know that because I've heard catholics in my family bash her for it. Yet at the same time, my grandmother also said s**t like "homosexuals shouldn't kiss in public as it gross some people out". Like, things that just isn't seen as right to say today. But listen, she grew up during WW2, she experienced having gestapo ransacking her house after school three times, she had two uncles and one aunt who died in concentration camps because of their left-wing opinions. Homosexual sex wasn't legal here in Norway before she was _41 years_ old(and we legalised it before 48 out of 50 US states). Then when I asked my grandmother "if straight people kiss publicly, shouldn't they also be allowed to express their love in public" and she thought about it for some seconds and then admitted I was right. See I wasn't offended by what she said because I knew that she was from a different generation, so I just asked her to think about it and obviously when she did, she understood. I feel like it's the same with Tinfoil here. And the only people who are disrespectful, hurtful or hateful here are the people who didn't respect Tinfoil enough to express your opinion in a respectful way so as to not hurt his feelings. Because you clearly see it made him feel bad.

@@SspaceB people learn, grow, and change. Back when TFC made those comments, people just genuinely didn't understand members of the LGBTQAIP+ community, and now today, as a group, we have grown to understand each other and to love each other despite differences. When confronted with people who are different than one's self, its easy to jump to hatred and anger, but with knowledge and wisdom comes the realization that we are all are fellow humans here and we all deserver being treated as such. The pursuit of acceptance over hatred and love over anger is not some "fanatic" generational uprising, its a sign that as humans all over the world, we have all learned to love and accept one another more, despite the differences in who we feel romantic attraction to or how we see our gender identity. TFC held views in the past that were hateful because he didn't understand, now that he has learned and grown as an individual he better sympathizes with his fellow humans, regardless of who they are and that is impressive. Truly something to respect, the ability to learn, grow, and move on from our past mistakes.

Nobody is here on the edge of their seats being "offended and thin skinned" and such. the only people that seem to be hurt are people who are some reason upset that TFC apologized for saying something silly before. Now, a message for TFC: thank you for making this video, as a Trans, pansexual person, I fully accept your apology, as do most of the people in the comments. To those who saw this now deleted post remember that good people are defined not just by their past, but, their willingness to accept change, figure out how to incorporate that into their life, and how they treat others in general. To those who haven't seen it, it was a thing, it isn't anymore move on. Good people won't drag up the past to let you in on some secret or anything. TFC said enough here that you have enough of a context to know what was said if you really need to to. To everyone, know that apologies(especially public ones) are a good first step to letting others know you realize what you said/did hurt someone else and you don't want that to get in the way of how others think of you going forward. Let TFC's actions going forward guide your continued opinions of the individual. And finally to TFC, it takes a lot of personal courage and integrity to apologize and mean it. Deleting that post so it can never come up again nor hurt someone else again, not that it was your original intent, is a good thing. Happy creating and healthy growing.

As a queer person, I really appreciate this. Times change and people change. Especially over the course of 10 years, things can really change. 10 years or so, people were still saying "That's gay," as a synonym for "That's dumb/stupid/etc." Taking the step to come forward and apologizing like you did is amazing. "10 years or so, people were still saying "That's gay," as a synonym for "That's dumb/stupid/etc."" People call something "autistic" when they think it's stupid and as an autist myself I am perfectly capable of noticing that what they are saying is not an actual attack on autistic people (most of the time). Black people call themselves "niggers" and also realize that they are not trying to offend each other for being black. Declaring people who say "That's gay" as homophobic, even though they were not trying to express any hatred towards gay people will not improve the public's relationship with homosexuals, it will actually worsen it. In fact, LGBT acceptance is dropping at an alarming rate, mostly exactly for this reason.

@@nrishiee5231 It is homophobic because literally nobody ever tells heterosexuals to keep their sexuality private. What TFC said, while not ill-intentioned, was wrong-minded and harmful, though I wouldn't call it homophobic. Hi TFC. I'm a new viewer in the Hermitcraft community so I don't know you nor did I see the blog. But from what you have said and what I assume your age to be, I want to say kudos to you for your stance and your flexibility as the world has changed around you. We should all expect that the world will change in a decade, what's "acceptable" to the public will change in a decade, and our own and each other's viewpoints will grow and change in a decade. Those of us who are young and are brought up in the new ways have it easier. Those who are older have the challenge of being flexible, and you have managed that. You have looked into the past, seen that a past version of you was documented and doesn't look so great today, and you have declared your change. Maybe someone out there needed the apology as a part of their healing, but I think it's more about declaring that you are a different, improved person now, and here's how. It's hard when people see you for what you were, not what you are. So I want to say I support your efforts, your integrity, and your flexibility. I wish more people were like you.

Dear TFC, I must admit that I barely ever watch your videos. I only know you through hermitcraft, and there are way too many of you to follow. But I do watch sometimes, because you are still valid, and deserve success and attention because you're trying and doing well. And in a way, that is very similar to the LGBTQ community. You're different from the way more (hyper)active people like Grian or Stress, and interact less with the others. But you are you. And that makes you valid. As a part of the LGBTQ community myself, I do not care about what you thought, or did. Everybody makes mistakes, whether intentional or not, especially if it was long ago when things were different. And acknowledging these, and changing for the better shows that you are doing good. So please do not feel too bad. Know that in your heart. We all grow, we're all human.

I'm relatively new as a Hermitcraft fan, and hadn't heard about this at all until this vid showed up in my recommends. At first I was delaying watching it since from its title I thought it might be a normal episode, and I'm trying to watch them all in order. But then I discovered xisuma's Xisuma Says channel where he talked a little about how this came about. I'm still a relatively new fan, but from the streams I've watched/listened to so far he doesn't really seem the type to make things up or blow things out of proportion. When he starts one of his explainy-tangents, he seems to actually put thought and analysis into what he says. So even though I really don't know the actual situation, I feel inclined to believe him on those points. So then, realizing this video wasn't a regular episode, I wanted to see it next time I remembered to, to get a better idea what's going on. After watching this, I still don't have a lot of details about what actually happened, but from the things you did mention, it sounds like this is a very reasonable and well-accomplished apology. Not at all like the fake and hollow "apologies" celebrities or companies sometimes do when they have PR issues. You seem to be a very kind and caring person, and I applaud you for that, and look forward to getting to know your personality better as I continue watching your Hermitcraft videos, and possibly eventually branching out to see some of your other content. As I mentioned, your apology does not sound unconvincing in the least. As a note for further improvement, if you ever find yourself needing to make a similar apology in the future (we can always hope it won't be needed, but you never know what ten more years' experience might teach us might have been less good that we say or do today) it might be even more betterer if you also go into a little bit about *how* what had been said or done is hurtful, and make clear that you understand what to be working on to avoid making the same mistakes. Being human, we're all bound to make new mistakes over time, but the best way to avoid re-making old mistakes is to understand why the old mistake was a mistake, as well as how to avoid re-making it. Similarly, as far as I know so far, the best and most effective apologies not only show sincerity, but also demonstrate the effort to understand this and the effort to work to improve. To clarify again: this was not a bad apology. From my limited understanding of the situation it sounds like a very good one. It is specifically *because* you sound like such an awesome person, that I wanted to give you this tip I've absorbed somewhere to help you be even better in the future. :-)

I know many KZfaqrs who say similar things and don't take these opinions back, and instead just reiterate them more to attempt to prove their point, or to put whoever they're offending down. I'm glad you didn't go down this route, recognized the err of what you may have done over a decade ago, and made amends. Try not to feel too bad about this whole situation, though, as it *was* a decade ago, which to most Hermitcraft viewers, is greater than half of their lifespan. It's good you've taken action to make sure you didn't offend anyone, but I'm serious about the part about not beating yourself up. Every other day, another KZfaqr has some dark secret of their past exposed, and this "secret" of your past isn't even dark-- just something that probably needed adressing nowadays. Even though this was probably pretty distressing to you, do your best to cheer yourself up, as you did the right thing, and you haven't been doing anything wrong related to this for the past 10 years now. Cheer up mate, don't beat yourself up, and have a nice day.

I can tell that it was an issue close to your heart in the way you spoke and want to thank you for your sincerity. I was not personally affected by this, but I would hope that those who were are able to accept this apology. To all those attacking or spouting cancel culture, use some common sense. Those who this apology does not apply to do not know the full context. And you can tell this apology is coming from the right place and had not been pressured or forced by the mob mentality of cancel culture. Learning to grow and change, especially from an opinion held 10 years ago, is proof that we can do better. And TFC, you're doing great. The right thing at the right time. Well done and thank you for your honesty and accountability.

It shows alot of character to be able to stand up, admit that something you said, or your way of thinking was wrong. It never seemed like you had the intent of being hateful, or a bigot, but still you apologize, and that shows the good heart you have. You're good man, and better than most for admiting and apologizing for your actions.
