This video discusses the attitudes of some who are or have apostatized from the Church in the latter-days. This video is meant to give people an alternate perspective as it pertains to church history, current church policies, or current leadership. In the video we discuss the difference between the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We discuss testimonies and how they should be developed and who is the steward over our faith and testimonies. We discuss when some have a problem with a church policy, but it matches doctrine found in scripture. I give an example around Tithing. The video discusses early church history and the transparency level of the church today. The video discusses why some discrepancies exist, where they have come from, and how we should approach them. We also discuss what we should do if we find our faith eroding.
Some people will like this video. Others will not. Both are okay. Please just remember this is all just my opinion and as always, I hope I am doing more good than harm.

If the church was a business or a social club I would have resigned a long time ago. But the church is not man-made. It was not organized by the authority of man but under the authority of God. Local church leaders do make errors in judgment, offend, and wrong people. But come to Judgement Day he will not ask who was my home teacher/ministering brother, or bishop, or stake president? He will instead ask about me? How did I react? Have I been a caring home teacher/ ministering brother? Did I magnify my calling? The focus will not be on the faults of others but on what have I done to correct and overcome my own faults. My focus should not be on others, but on me and the 'beam in my eye'.

This video helped me realize that a friend of mine is going to be OK. His faith in Christ is very strong, but he struggles with the hypocrisy of the people in the church. He studies the gospel and speaks with power and love when he talks about the gospel. But he hasn't been to church in 2 years. Now I know that he will be ok. God will judge Him accordingly and honestly he may be better off than some who go to church every week and check off all the things...

I loved listening to this. As a mom of 5 grown and married children where 3 have declared themselves agnostic and a few have attacked the church and gospel on Facebook and other avenues with things they learned from CESpapers. This is all a concern to me. I’m walking on egg shells trying not to “cross” certain lines. I know I’ve never taught them the things they are saying I taught them. They accuse the gospel and church as being bigoted and not loving all. My heart breaks for them. The sadness is real especially when they won’t consider going to any other church.

You must not fret over the kids decisions. Just pray for them all and then some in the same circumstance. The Lord's Mercy is sufficient for us all. Please don't be the one that hinders the work that the Lord has in store for them. The Lord Jesus Christ knows all that needs to be done whether we fret or not. This is a growing time For all. Don't wreck your health in the meantime. All is well have patience keep praying that does more good then worrying about it. I promise! They have your great example. There may be many time in everyone's life that it is time to be silent about the gospel. There are times even for me the spirit says no sense in explaining or talking. That has been excellent advice!

THat is where we actually live our lives. Church culture can cause as much harm to people as anything. We all should realize that and try to do better and or not let it bother us so much.

10:13 YAS!🤣 I have a great story about this. When I was a young child, I was riding with my aunt and grandma down Main Street. It was one of my first times seeing the salt lake temple (1990s). I remember marveling at statue Angel Moroni saying something along the lines of saying is it solid gold or something? Or wow! Or some such. My grandma angrily answered,”We’ve given so much money to the church; we probably paid for that!” She sounded so upwr; so I genuinely answered,”Why not ask for it back?” Lol. She didn’t say anything after that.

You are not damned for not going to camp or anything like that. Only time someone is damned is because they refuse the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His teachings. No repentance will play a big role in damnation. Damnation is when you stop learning spiritually. If you are still learning spiritually then you are not Damned. We all are damned sometime or another in our lives . If damnation comes because of sin then that is because we did something wrong. Repentance is the greatest gift that the Lord gives us all here upon the Earth, if we will repent and do our best to do what is right then the Lord's Mercy is sufficient. Are we doing our best or not!

Great video, and super on point. I think one thing we must remember and saints + members of the church which is: (1) If we have questions or concerns relating to either gospel topics (or especially church policies) we should not be under the impression we are going against the gospel or doctrine for trying to receive clarification or even to offer suggestions (as we are all members). I think many sometimes feel like uncomfortable speaking up (so we or any leaders shouldn't discourage this). I don't think that is what Christ would want us to do. I really liked the imagery in the video (showing the gap between Gospel + Church) which is many times misunderstood as one in the same.

@dontjstsurvive

I think what's happening for me is that I'm finally peeling off layers of darkness, like scales were over my eyes. I can very clearly see that the gospel is true. I can clearly see that God still works through fallible man and directs us to his ordinances. I can see that the ordinances are still viable and that coming back into Jesus' presence in this life is still possible because the priesthood has been restored. Priesthood is necessary, and progress outside of the ordinances is limited. I also clearly see that man has been given his agency for so long in leading this church, that there has to be a setting in order. Even though this is Christ's church, He does not micromanage the leadership and allows things to take place that He doesn't approve of. And just as the true church had degenerated in Jesus' day, it has been prophesied that it will degenerate in ours. I have a testimony that He still works through it, even imperfect men. I also have a testimony that there are tares among the wheat and that a separation is coming. And that becoming a member of the Church of the Firstborn, consecrating our lives and turning our will over to Christ is far more important than being a member of this earthly Church. There will be a split, I believe, between those who are faithful to HIM and to truth, and those who are faithful to the church and the men who lead it. I believe that those who feel more loyalty to the latter will fall. The apostasy is WITHIN the church, as well as outside of it. That's what I think.

Why do you think the church will fall? Daniel said this last kingdom will never fall away, though people will. I can see it happening in some of our more "Woke" members, but the brethren won't fall. As usual, wonderful video and powerful testimony. I genuinely love this channel. I only have a thought to add about the church itself. The church, while not yet perfect is the Kingdom of God on the earth. The Kingdom of God will join into, and become, the Kingdom of Heaven eventually. Proper and authoritative baptism is the gate of membership not only the Lord's church, but into His Kingdom. I totally agree with the message of the video. I would also simply emphasize that although seemingly small, compared to the power of the gospel in inviting and cultivating the power God in us unto salvation, there is still an absolute necessitation of the Lord's church that goes beyond only the ordinances and covenants. The church IS the Lord's Kingdom on earth. That Kingdom will grow and be perfected until Christ shall present it spotless to His Father (Ephesians 5:7, D&C 76:107). Again, the church becomes that Kingdom, the Kingdom of Heaven. In the church, as we love and serve each other we prepare ourselves to live in the Lord's way in His society. Now, our testimonies should not be in that currently imperfect church- but rather in the faith and hope of what that church WILL ultimately become, and most importantly, who we will become individually and as a society, through faith in Christ. I am also not sure that the people of Jared did not have the church established among them. The book of Ether was abridged by Moroni, contains 15 chapters, and covers more time than the entire Book of Mormon period. While the "church" is not specifically mentioned, neither can we rule it out simply because it is not explicitly stated. I personally believe the church did exist among them. The exercising of priesthood authority is explicitly mentioned in Ether. Priesthood comes by the laying on of hands, by those who already hold the authority. If they kept commandments, then they formed a church. If they had authoritative and proper baptism, they had the church. But Moroni moves fast through Ether, really pointing out the destruction of the entire civilization by rejecting God and His prophets. Again, powerful video and I could not agree more that WE are the stewards of our own salvation, and it is ultimately between God and us alone. I just want to point out that while the Kingdom of God on earth is still imperfect, our hope and faith in Christ is sufficient to trust Him with the perfection of that church, which will become and join His (The Kingdom of Heaven or Celestial Kingdom). I love that president Nelson has said, "the restoration is ongoing." It is. We can trust that and do our best with whatever God has and will give us. God bless.

You’re points reminded me of two very important scriptures that are excellent additions to the topic 2 Nephi 4:34: 34 O Lord, I have atrusted in thee, and I will btrust in thee forever. I will not put my ctrust in the arm of flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his dtrust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm. (Notice the warning is repeated) And D&C 30:1-2: Behold, I say unto you, David, that you have afeared man and have not brelied on me for strength as you ought. 2 But your mind has been on the things of the aearth more than on the things of me, your Maker, and the ministry whereunto you have been called; and you have not given heed unto my bSpirit, and to those who were set over you, but have been persuaded by those whom I have not commanded. Another excellent video, thank you. You’ve made so many great points in this video. The tithing one was excellent. That’s exactly how I feel it’s not going to change the fact that I have obeyed God, and it’s not going to change the fact that God is going to bless me because of that. I feel that people who have an issue with what the church uses the money for are still thinking that it’s their money. So they think they get to dictate what the money is used for. But once you give it to God, it’s gods money. He can do whatever he wants with it including take it to the back of the building and burning it.

@@adamholloway7963 This is my personal opinion. And my opinion does not represent the the views, comments, opinions, or teachings of The church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. These are purely my own. I think it DOES matter where you pay your Tithing. I don’t donate to charities because legally they can take up to 80% of the money that’s donated to them. Alot of charities claim it goes towards paying for the betterment of people in need, to lift them out of poverty, or to give them food and clothing, ect. But most of the time it does not in a lot of cases. The church of Jesus Christ of later day Saints does not do fundraisers. Things like renting big banquet halls, with thousand dollar plates of food for celebrities or politicians Or do auctions with great big prizes worth a lot of money to entice people to donate. The money comes from the members of the church, who donate their tithing, fast offerings and missionary fund, that pays for all of it. Things like are church buildings, our temples, charity work, like feeding the homeless, sending aid for natural disasters around the world. And sending people on missions. That’s just a few of the things that I know that they do with the tithing, fast offing’s and missionary funds. I only trust The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to put the money where they state it will be going. They are upfront and always honest. Which I know may sound like I’m talking out my ear, They have at times throughout history been called to prove what they put their donations, tithing, fast offerings and missionary funds towards and they are able to prove what every cent is used for. So to answer you simply, yes I think it does matter where you put your tithing. I would never donate to another church my tithing. It is to build the kingdom of God on earth and to prepare for Christ second coming. And I believe with every ounce of my soul that that is going to be through and with the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I do believe that God does see are good intentions, and where our hearts and your minds are at. I will say this last bit, that my church, The church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints has always and will always encourage people to seek God for themselves & to gain there own understanding and testimony from God if what are church teaches is true, for you to pray and ask for truth to be revealed to you. So I will encourage you to do the same. And if you would like to know about The church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints for yourself, I would encourage you to seek him www.churchofjesuschrist.org

Oh I forgot to mention there are a great deal of churches out there that, their priest and clergy get paid salaries to do the job of bringing people to God. And that you have to pay to get married in synagogues, cathedrals and churches for other religions. For The church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, are Prophets , bishops, priesthood holders & our missionaries do their service for free. And you do not have to pay to get married in our temples or churches. As long as you carry a temple recommend and you are worthy to be in the temple.

The two to the bottom, take me off of this webpage and no offense but I don’t know who you are and I don’t feel comfortable going to some random link. The bottom one I did click on to get it to work and right off the bat it’s a load of crap. There are many very evil, bitter & spiteful people in this world who like to claim false witnesses, to try to discredit or dishonor, or try to bring disgrace. I choose not to listen to those things or people. I go with what the Holy Ghost tells me. I believe in and support the Prophets and the 12 and 70. I believe they are Righteous man of God and I do believe that they speak with him and listen to the Holy Ghost and I believe that they are here to lead Christ’s Church in these last days. I believe that Joseph Smith though he was only 14, did speak to God and Jesus in that grove. That he did translate the gold plates, that brought us the truth of the book of Mormon. To me it seems like you’re looking to pick a fight and I’m not here to pick a fight. I’m not looking to listen to false doctrines or people who are truly evil trying to twist and morph the church into something it’s not. This was a very good video and well-spoken. This is my point of view also. I have been a member of the church since I was in my twenties. I have learned so much and appreciate these videos that represent the church and the doctrine. In my struggles I have learned much also my testimony is strong not to boast. That's only because my parents taught me early in life how to find a truth . We will always have those Skeptics, being skeptical is fine but it's when you take it overboard that causes harm not just to you but others. That's why the Lord give us the Holy Ghost to understand what is right and wrong. I believe we have too many people out there that is just too impatient to ask for understanding and find Truth and not forget all of those that are too lazy to ask. So truth can be given to each of us through the Holy Ghost. If you don't do that you will fall for anything just like a friend of mine. It's really simple if you (don't repent) and give up your sinful Life Style you will stay Damned (if you don't repent ). You can always pray and ask for truth. Look at it this way it may help some that will repent, that's if they stay OnCourse by following Jesus Christ. The Lord is standing with outstretched hands waiting to open the door. The door knob is on your side not his. And you were out in the cold Drury snowy weather and He is waiting on you to open the door so he can rescue each of us. Foolish Pride will tell you I'm just going to stay out and freeze. If you can crack open the door a little bit the Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy and Grace will call you and say please come and follow me my yoke is easy. It's all your choice. He waits patiently.

You said that one of the few things we need the church's help with is Perfecting the Saints - receiving our own endowments and making and partaking in those saving ordinances through temple worship. While I fully agree, I would also add that we need the Church's help with Redeeming the Dead. If we were in a distant place we could share the Gospel and help others but it seems to me this additional mission of the Church is included in the list of things we need the Church. I'm not speaking of finding our ancestors - this can be done without the assistance of FamilySearch which makes this process much easier - but rather being able offer the saving ordinances to them also. This can't be done without Temples. We need temples to Perfect the Saints - receiving our own endowments - be we also need those temples to do the same for the dead.

The thought was that you could do your ancestry without the help of the church. Sure, getting those that have passed on their saving ordinances requires the church but that is why I said Perfecting the Saints is all YOU need for YOUR salvation. Certainly we want to help our kindred dead and the church is needed for that just like it is for our own ordinances.

@@GospelLessons1 You know, I've actually thought a lot about this very thing. If I may, I would politely like to disagree and share my view. I am not sure perfecting the saints is all we need for our own salvation. Doctrine and Covenants 128:15 "And now, my dearly beloved brethren and sisters, let me assure you that these are principles in relation to the dead and the living that cannot be lightly passed over, as pertaining to our salvation. For their salvation is necessary and essential to our salvation, as Paul says concerning the fathers-that they without us cannot be made perfect-neither can we without our dead be made perfect." I sincerely believe that we cannot be made perfect, nor enjoy or experience a fullness of salvation without our dead and with a loving offering, extend the ordinances and covenants of salvation to them. If we are to become as Christ is, then we must extend our hands to our brothers and sisters and be "saviors on Mt. Zion" (Obadiah 1:21). This impacts our own salvation. If we truly love like Christ, then like the sons of Mosiah, we too must be "desirous that salvation should be declared to every creature, for they could not bear that any human soul should perish; yea, even the very thoughts that any soul should endure endless torment did cause them to quake and tremble" (Mosiah 28:3). If we are only focused on our own salvation, then we ironically miss it. I once attended a stake conference in which Elder Christopherson presided. Paraphrasing, he effectively said, "Some have said to me, I don't need organized religion or a church to be spiritual. My answer to them is that this sounds like a very selfish way to seek or have spirituality."

For those who are raised in the LDS church we are taught that we must receive our saving ordinance from the Church because it has the proper authority. It occurs to me that there are several scriptural examples of people receiving many of the saving ordinances and or priesthood power directly from God and or angels. We assume Adam and Eve received theirs from God and angels, after all, they seems to have been married in the garden. There are many occasions in scriptures that the sealing power was received directly from the Lord Jesus Christ or an angel of the Lord. Jospeh Smith also received power and authority from Angels to be able perform saving ordinances starting with baptism. Not a church. Point being, it is possible, when the circumstance necessitates it, to receive ordinances outside of the Church structure. I admit it seems to be the exception and not the rule, but it is possible, God can do whatever He wants. What ever is correct or not correct in the Church, God will lead and guide each of us individually. Confirming all things through the Holy Ghost will be your key to staying in the right path for you whether inside or outside of a church. Aligning yourself with as much truth as you can in this life will be the most fruitful use of your time to help you progress along your personal path to exaltation. I am so grateful to the Godhead for the New and Everlasting Covenant of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Thank you for reinforcing the core principles and teachings of the Gospel (Mt 22:36 etc) and for clarifying the (ancillary?) role of "the Church". The illustration of the overlap between the two is informative but there is (much, much) more there than meets the eye....Perhaps you would like to comment on Eph5:32 re the nature of the relationship the Saviour has with and His (The) Church and on the various "cultures" (interpretations) which some have adopted, based upon their understanding of such which in these last days have become divisive and a threat to "the unity of the faith".

I can relate to some stuff said here, much to my chagrin. When i was a kid I recall when the first nintendo came out and we got one in our home. Me and my siblings were hooked immediately, but because TV was being taught as a waste of time if you watched too much and games seemed to teach you problem solving skills we all thought it was a better use of time. As time went on gaming was still my favorite time kill. Other people had TV shows or watching sporting games or reading as their favorite time kills (I read as well, could take an average size novel and finish it in a few days if i was hooked on it) I had video games. More time passed, gaming advanced, and explored new territories, and opened new doors to story telling and problem solving, as well as social interactions with others. Then during one conference the leaders of the church began counseling against video games. I understood that anything could be bad if you let it consume you and take your focus off what matters, but I was better then that, and was therefore fine. I continued to enjoy my at the time, not so guilty pleasure. Just like there are things that are good, better, or best; I thought my better was good enough. More time passed and video games went into new territory. It was becoming common to have stories that if they were made movies would be R rated, or even X. Before I realized it, I had gone much farther into the deep end then I thought. And that's exactly how Satan works, hooking us a little bit with what "seems" to be a mostly good thing, then slowly digging deeper into society and us tell hes got a good hold over us. Lately at conference it seems they have been pressing the need to cast off anything that doesn't keep us on the straight and "narrow" to eternal salvation and I am now listening. I got rid of all my video games and was suddenly surprised how much free time i had. It had practically consumed my life. Now I'm trying to use my free time more productively. If it doesn't bring me to god or is part of his plan, I'm not touching it. No TV, no Games, No radio. I'm going back to guidelines I followed on my mission. If it doesn't invite the spirit, or more importantly drives it away, avoid it if i can. Though I will still use the internet to stay connected to the world. I am trying to avoid inflammatory and divisive news articles, since im trying to do better at not falling for contentious temptations and thoughts.

It seems to me the choices we make, is to do the very things that will help us grow in faith, like keeping the commandments, repent and forgive. However, it is more than just a conscious decision on our part. Elder McConkie has taught that increased faith is also a gift from God, based on our personal righteousness, especially faith as a principle of Power.

I mostly agree with that, but I think it goes further. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was created by Jesus Christ, and is the repository of his authority (particularly priesthood keys), the arbiter of his doctrines, the medium through which he reveals things to mankind in general, and the instrument through which the Gospel (along with its ordinances) is administered to mankind. There's more, but that's the list that I can think of off the top of my head. You can't separate the Gosple from the Church, they are integrated. Just as separating a spirit from its body results in death, trying to separate the Gospel from the Church kills the connection to one's personal salvation and exaltation. The Church is true, and it is the living Church, and is fully connected to Jesus Christ, even though he must use imperfect, fallible humans to administer it.

We wanted to become active and again after many years away, and did start while we were in Yuma, Arizona last winter. Since returning to Idaho we inquired about vaccination rates in our ward and stake and were accused of “throwing stones”. What do we do? We were all asked by President Nelson to be vaccinated if possible. How do we know where to attend and who to trust? Are anti-vaccers in the church apostatizing? When you talked about faith, you expressed the importance of living by what our Father In Heaven would want us to do. I don’t know who to ask…

This is an excellent video carefully pointing out the distinction between the Church and the Gospel. Thank you for your diligent and effective effort. However there is something a little misleading in it, I want to draw attention to. At 20 minutes of your video you show President Nelson with what appears to be a quote from his April 2021 General Conference address. The way you have the words arranged it appears you are saying that President Nelson said "not faith in a Church, but faith in his Gospel.' Reading President Nelsons address carefully shows he never said that. He never said the words "not faith in a Church". I urge you to clarify this and not leave this misleading 'impression' uncorrected. Otherwise thank you again for a great message.
