Thank you for this excellent content!The correct use of the apostrophe make all difference in English,and people have made a lot of mistakes by using it incorrect. So,it is very important to fix up all of those the oldest mistakes that are breaking down the good English.

Thank You SO MUCH, for your time and dedication to this series. (I probably made a few punctuation mistakes in this paragraph, so I apologize. Hence, the reason why I’m here!). Now, I’m still never quite sure on how many spaces after a period, (is it one or two? We were taught to use only one space after a period, in writing class, MANY MANY MOONS AGO, however, when we were taught “typing / computer-data processing, we were told to use TWO spaces, after a period !?) Also, I’m never sure of the correct amount of space(s) to use, before or after an exclamation mark/question mark, and before or after, brackets. Your professionalism, time, and attention to detail is impeccable! …hence the reason, I ‘liked’ this video, and Subscribed to your channel, from here on forward. Thank You So Much -From Toronto, ONTARIO, CANADA 🇨🇦 !!!!

Even though you don’t add an extra S after the apostrophe, you would still pronounce Thomas’ /tomasiz/ ( Ex: St.Thomas’ Hospital in London). Phonetically speaking, the S is optional or omitted more often than not, with surnames ending in S like Roberts, Williams, Connors, or Adams.

Hello Ms. Sparkle English, I have a question on apostrophes : which is the correct way to go, in the '80s or in the 80's? Regards
@davidmcglumphy2240
@davidmcglumphy2240 Жыл бұрын
Apostrophes used in contractions indicate the location of the missing part(s). Since 19, for example, is missing from 1980s, the apostrophe goes where the missing 19 would have been located. Thus, '80s is your answer.
