Two guys, plus their spotters and producers, who are paid to know these things, continually missed what was blatantly obvious to anyone watching. I couldn't believe it while watching it live. Regardless though, highly entertaining football game between likely two of the better group of 5 teams.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing on that. It only matters to the statistician, because you have to record it as a fumble or INT towards the stat line.

Sad that CBS Sports only had one camera pointed at that blocked FG. I would have liked to see more perspectives of that key play.

ESPN never even aired the play that changed the game. I thought that was a point for highlights, but they didn't even play the one camera angle. The Wyoming Cowboys Network had a better radio call than the CBS call.

App had a terrible play call on 3rd down that set the ball on the far-right hash. For reasoning only found in college, the AppState kicker and placeholder setup further inside the hash and the snapper angles the snap. This "helps" the kicker so he doesn't have as harsh an angle at the FG but allows the Defense to bum rush the O-Line straight at the kicker which is normally illegal because it would normally be over the snapper. Wyoming used this to their advantage and blocked the kick, which was a low line drive, and had someone from the outside running in towards the kick to scoop it up.

It was my first time at a Wyoming game cause I wanted to go just as a college football fan. Surprisingly became a thriller in the 4th quarter, especially considering the other 3 quarters nothing happened at all.

I went to the Texas vs Wyoming game and it was the same thing nothing for 3 quarters and then they got blown out. They put up a good fight at least, Go MW!!

Wyoming got extremely lucky in this game. First the fg block was kick and second apps fucking coaches so happened to smoke some weed that day.

That Pass Interference call on the second to last play was actually really smart by the defender. Would’ve been way more likely to be a touchdown for App State if the DB didn’t drag the receiver down. Penalty over an L any day

It's a really bad rule in college football and it needs to change. It penalized App and rewarded the Wyoming DB for getting beat. Can anyone tell me why they don't use the NFL rule?

Bad call by the first announcer, the pass didn't fall. Meanwhile the second guy is hung up on whether it was a backward pass. It never touched the ground so it's a moot point. Not a big deal but it was an odd moment for them.

The all-out blitz on the last play was a super smart play call. They knew App was going for the touchdown after the last FG was blocked so all their receivers were running 20+ yard routes. QB doesn't have time to set his feet or escape the pocket to throw it away. A sack or Intentional Grounding would essentially end the game with the clock expiring. He just threw it to the first receiver he saw, and the Wyoming defender peeled off his man to intercept.

My comment is gonna get buried on the Colorado thread, and quite possibly puked on because I didn't fall all over myself trying to praise Colorado..... What I said was that I really appreciate the way you do these "thrilling finish" videos. You don't put them to music. (This is HUGE to my mind.) You don't show us just the final play. You give us the CONTEXT of the finish, not just the last score or the last interception, but the situation around it. So thanks for doing what you do the way you do it. :)

That run to the 49 yard line... How is everyone that blind? He was clearly several feet from the 49 but the announcers thought he passed it. In the replay the announcer saw what I saw live and was like yo nevermind I take that back. Then the refs look at it and go eh, sure why not. Am I missing something about how the ball is supposed to be placed? How can the refs completely miss that both live and in replay. 🤦

That pass interference in the end zone is why the rule needs to be changed in college. Cripes, if the defender gets totally beaten on a play, he can just tackle the WR to keep them from catching the ball, even in the end zone and it's only 15 yards max...in that case, it would have been marked at the one yard line, changing the game entirely.

If they don't block it again. That would be even more miraculous, considering Wyoming had played 126 years of football and never returned a blocked kick of any kind for a touchdown until that moment. Turns out Appalachian State had never had a field goal blocked and returned for a touchdown in their history either.

4:10 Seems to me Wyoming won that game because of that interference in the end zone. Good chance App State catches that and goes up by 3 points plus a PAT with 18 seconds left in the game. Unfortunate for App State but pretty smart on the part of that Wyoming player using the rules to his advantage.

Happens a lot in college football. If you're a corner back and the wide receiver beats you, just bring him down in anyway possible and take the penalty and not the possibility of a touchdown. Wish PI was a spot-foul like it is for the pros

Insane ending, but how in the world wasn't there a targeting on No. 54 of Wyoming during the drive following the long touchdown run? Look at the 1:15 mark. It's insane there was nothing in that since he buried his head on a stood up receiver and went right for the helmet. Absolutely textbook IMO.
