I am sure that humidity is brutal! Stay Fluid up! Some buffering on this video on my end. Great video as always!!
@ChuckHowell-OutdoorsАй бұрын
Oh no! I hate that it’s buffering. I’m trying to put out everything at 1080p rather than 4k to try and avoid the buffering and speed up uploading. We’re trying to stay as hydrated as possible. Water sources are drying up, so we have to ration at times.

Can’t imagine hiking in that humidity and heat. Way to go getting 15 miles. Stay safe heading north. 😊

The red berries growing on trees are serviceberries. After ripening in July and August, they are sweet and delicious.

Thanks. I’ve noticed the birds aren’t eating them??

@@ChuckHowell-Outdoors They're probably too bitter now.

Take a picture of your pack sometime. Are you slack packing. It looks small but I didn’t get a good look. Happy hiking!
@ChuckHowell-OutdoorsАй бұрын
Will do! I’ll try and get it on my day 28 video. I’m not slack packing. I just pack compactly. I just resupplied, and with 3 days of food and 2 liters of water I’m carrying about 25lbs

I was just thinking(can be dangerous ), but not to get into the whole story, but my profession I had an opportunity to work in Saudi Arabia some years back. Travel to Eqypt and it was there that while visiting some of the sites in Cairo and Luxor, my daughter got seriously heat exhaustion or something along those lines. What really helped her in the heat is we were able to get was a neck wrap that was cold and brought her out of it. Thinking about it more, that might be hard until you do a zero at a hostel or hotel. Ah well…..never-mind.😮

No, a cool cloth is doable. Just re-soak it in every creek you cross. You can buy them fairly cheaply and they weigh almost nothing when dry.
@ChuckHowell-OutdoorsАй бұрын
I actually do that from time to time

Another quick gear question. You probably have told us but I may have missed it or just forgot. Are those bandanas you use for gaiters.
@ChuckHowell-OutdoorsАй бұрын
No. They are made by a company called “Dirty Girl Gaiters”.
@captainkirk1102Ай бұрын
@@ChuckHowell-Outdoors Thanks I need to check them out. The inside of my shoes will get dirtier than the outside.
@ChuckHowell-OutdoorsАй бұрын
Mine too if I don’t use the gaiters

Do you guys use bug spray? I have heard that Ben’s is really good. It is in an orange “bottle”. I saw a southbounder mention that…. That is works the best!
@ChuckHowell-OutdoorsАй бұрын
I occasionally use Repel. It usually gets washed off with sweat

Okay..last comment; if it’s hot, but cloudy, take the hat off because wearing a hat retains heat.
@donaldparry5157Ай бұрын
Years ago I put a wet washcloth under my hat that dripped cool water for quite a ways, keeping me Kool!
@ChuckHowell-OutdoorsАй бұрын
True, but the sun can still burn even when cloudy, and my head is almost bald. I do wet the hat from time to time
