In these days of frugality, I rinse out the shredded cheese bags and re-use them as ziplock bags for my frig. They are food grade and work great for part of an onion, leftover veggies or whatever. Waste not, want not.

Brenda, I love your attitude! You just go with the flow and make do. That hamburger casserole looks good and it certainly didn’t hurt anything having the potatoes partially cooked. I think that was pretty smart, although I would not have rinsed them and wash away the vitamins. Save that water next time to put in soup or when making gravy. Adds lots of flavor and nutrition. Take care of that arm like the therapist says. You’ll be glad you did this winter! I pray David can get well too!

I have made a similar dish, with cooked noodles & not potatoes & add Thyme... from a 1977 Kraft cookbook, called "Dad's Special". This looks great. I mix my cheeses, too!!! Love that crusty cheese top. When I reheat it, I cut it up a bit, cover with more grated cheese & warm it up in my microwave... very yummy, again! Thanks for your sharing your time & stories! Gotta try & taste it...is that enough for you to taste? My Daddy used to say he needed another helping to be sure it tastes the same as his first batch he tasted!!!
