POW WOW! A festival fer ser Mark! Lovely Native flute music, of which I make and play meself, a loom that sales for a musket price and Scotsman doll maker! That little girls face when he gave her that doll? The smile on her face was priceless! Kind of makes me homesick for the regular ones we used to have here. There is one usually at The Indian Steps Museum along the Susquehanna River in York County Pa. As you probably know, York was a place with some fine gunsmiths and across the river east Lancaster County where I live. There’s still a small stone building located in Lancaster County in the Lampeter/Willow Strret towns area where Martin Mylin had his gun shop in 1712 I believe or there abouts! Anyway, making a short story long, Indian Steps near Otter Creek there are large rocks with foot holds carved used when shading fishing. The biggest concentration of petroglyphs (carved rock art) on the east coast are believed to be in this area, about 12 miles west of my home. They can trace human life back over 14,000 years. An attorney bought land (Indian Steps area) back in the early 1900s. He was big into Native culture and built a beautiful Arts and Crafts style lodge there now the museum. So for the last 40 years or so there has been a pow wow/ festival in Sept. You can check out this beautiful lodge on line, Indian Steps Museum. There is a council/meeting room with stained glass windows, fire place and huge stone table, a round room. And it over looks the Susquehanna River which is a mile wide. So you can see how your BPMS channel has carried me off into a button frenzy! Oh by the way Brother Mark, I have helped run a stand at some of these events with good friends and sold some of my own wares like, rattles, flutes, necklaces and war clubs. Watching the youngsters take interest in stuff like this puts a smile on my face. The little girl was paying such close attention to the guy making the doll. Those 2 kids helping make rope and then testing it was pretty funny. I have to appreciate all these great people out in the heat to share their knowledge of history with others, it's cool to see. Thanks for everything you do to share this content with us all too Mark. I never knew this event existed until now and that's because of this video.
