Hiking the AT through the whites, bond cliff is a must, it’s only a couple miles off the AT. It’s known to be the most beautiful area of the park.

I'm positive this is a positive channel that contributes much to the hiker community in a most positive way. Personally, I don't care for the negative, nasty, trolling comments and will call out any I find, as well as report the harassing bullying ones to KZfaq. There's no place for such nonsense here and as a reminder, there is no such thing as free speech on a private non-governmental platform. I like the go slow and enjoy each mile and experience approach. Life should be enjoyed as a journey, not a destination. Thanks Ramdino for all you do and give your Pops an extra hug for those of us who aren't so fortunate to still have our Dad's anywhere but in our hearts.

And yes we call the dogs on both side of our yard “ Our kids” and yes they are spoiled and yes they get biscuits and treats!! Hey Ramdino, Thanks for the weekly update. The trail is getting busy and I'm heading north next Monday to do trail magic starting in Maryland and going to Maine. I plan to be on trail until September if donations hold out. Your updates help me considerably by letting me know approximate locations and numbers. I recently found your channel and i appreciate all the information and well wishes sent to the hiker community. I've noticed a lot of seniors or retirees on the trail. Has anyone done a survey or statistics on the hiker population that are retirees and/or seniors, opposed to the younger crowd (college graduate ages). I enjoy seeing a wide variety of people out enjoying the trail, regardless if its a section, lash or thru hike. It is empowering to see folks that are retirees attempting or completing thru hikes, since i am retiring this September. I have spent a considerable amount of time on different trails and plan on continuing, and spending more time on the trail. Thank you for what you do.

I watched evans’s backpacking channel and he was with a group that had a very bold bear grabbing the hikers food bags. I want to say they were near the Grayson Highlands. But that bear made its way to quite a few of the hikers and was grabbing Ursacks and food bags. If I remember right, it was in broad daylight with the whole group around. So for this hiker to have had his pack stolen, means it really could have happened with the hiker right by his pack. I guess nowadays we do see plenty of videos with bears walking right up to people and I guess especially a hungry food conditioned one would be right in that category. Update : So my curiosity got the best of me and I did go and find the videos from Evan and watched them again since it had been a while. The problem bear account is on AT #12 (eight minutes in) and AT# 13 (about five minutes in is when you can see the Ursack that the bear ripped open.)

Maybe the person who said you insulted people who lost a child, had actually lost a child. I can imagine maybe a lot of pain behind that comment. Maybe really not even trying to be mean, just a way of crying out to the world.

Great point. I for one need to remind myself to look at things from the perspective of the person themselves. As a Dad I can't fathom the level of pain and suffering involved in losing a child, even a grown one.
