Useful tests performed on Air tag. This device is very useful to locate things when tagged. Very good video.

Great video, what is interesting is that the connection distance is less than 10m, while disconnection is close to 28 m. It would be interesting to see how close a random iPhone needs to pass by a lost Airtag for it to report back to iCloud.

When you were too far for BT and UWB based direction finding and the iPhone was indicating a weak signal, I wonder if you could have made the airtag beep and wonder if you could have heard it? Perhaps this could increase the range for finding an Airtag?

I usually include an AirTag anytime I send my girlfriend packages (she’s in France, I’m in the USA). I can usually track it mid-flight, even over the Atlantic Ocean and can even find the airline and flight number it’s on. That means that the signal went through the metal encased cargo hold and reached a passenger inside the cabin who had an iPhone and paid for the overpriced in-flight internet 😅 P.S. Once I find out which flight it’s on, I track the flight real-time and the flight path matches up exactly with the AirTag location. It’s actually quite impressive!

Mine loses the adirecting arrow once you move away 5 feet, so what seems to be my problem, the Airtag or my cellphone?, I phone 11 pro max im using for this airtag

Has anyone done any 3D testing in a multi-story building? What if your AirTag is in a room directly above you? How does the proximity detection work in that situation? Does it indicate "above" or "below" in any way? This is a particular concern among cruise ship passengers, whose luggage may be delivered to the wrong cabin. You might easily detect your Tag within 20 or 30 feet, but that could be on the deck above or below, just as easily as the one you are on at that time.

The one I just bought as a range of 10-15 feet. The tag would have to be in an iphone person's possession for it to show up in the cloud. Could it have been sold with a weak battery?

In the find my App, you should be able to see the battery level. 10-15 feet range - just depends on what’s in between. Within home, with walls in between, that’s what I get as well.

Yes, I think that’s possible. As long as an iPhone (any of the one billion) is near the vicinity of the car, you can track.

No we can’t I believe as I tried it already but couldn’t trace my airtag even my friend was standing right next to my airtag with his iphone

Our tests showed it worked well for upto 20 meters using its Bluetooth & Ultra wide band. Beyond that, it is reliant on Apple’s network of 1 billion devices. And it works well in cities. Essentially, as long as the airtag is somewhere in proximity of any other iPhone, it will be possible to locate it. I wouldn’t fancy my chances in the middle or a desert therefore - or in countries where iPhone is not as popular.

How accurate is it over the iCloud network?

If there are iPhones nearby, it is accurate to approx within 10-20 meters - as long as another iPhone can receive the Bluetooth pulse. Similar to find my friend.

1:40 it's at least 9cm under 50cm which is 20% out. Try showing the min and max position when it changes measurement, we need to see tolerance and repeatability

Looks like the least count is 0.1m, so if it's over 40 cm but less than 50cm, it will read as 0.5m. It's not a messuring device just a short range distance estimator, so hardly makes a difference.

That is surprising, since technology wise, there isn't anything dependent on the phone network - its the U1 chip on the iphone and airtags. Did a bit of google and looks like regulations in Indonesia and a few other countries do not permit precision tracking... wccftech.com/psa-airtag-precision-finding-feature-does-not-work-in-every-country/

I have no iPhone 11 running IOS 14.5.1. and it would it look in until 9 feet indoors. I bought thisvto find my wife while shopping. Not functional for this scenario.

I tried the last date functionmbetween rooms about 15 feet apart (walls are standard construction) and line of site. Once found I could back away and the direction arrow would stay locked on for about 18 feet. I returned it.

Airtags are for finding lost items, not people. Supermarkets have metal shelves that block the signal, this is why car keys are made out of PLASTIC even RIMAC or Tesla makes their car keys from plastic so they don’t limit/block signal.

@@biromate2237 Correction: keys are made from metal, key fobs are made from plastic 😅 P.S. My iPhone is my Tesla key, unfortunately they don’t include the key fobs anymore, at least with the Model 3’s

What connection airtag used. Bluetooth and wifi it doesn't maksens with over 1km range.. lmao And ridiculous claim form apple its was able to track around the world😅😅

I bought a 4 pack of AirTags to track my cats and they are completely useless. I feel scammed because I bought the AirTags at the same time I preordered the iPhone 14 and the phone didn't even arrive within 14 days (the return policy for the AirTags), so Apple didn't refund my purchase. Even 5 feet away my iPhone 14 can't find them. My iPad Pro can't find them precisely. Not much of a useful product if the only time it shows up is somewhere on your block.

💩 tag that can work only within 4 meter , Within that range i can use my eyes , thanks 🤦‍♂️ Can anyone tell me if there is a tag that can work at least 500 meter ? i want to use it for my ebike which i buy it 2000€ if someone steals it i am fa*ked.
