wow, carplay looks very good on the larger screen... I've only really seen one aspect ratio, and car manufacturers would just add bezels... but this looks really nice with the extra added column of apps!

Thanks Raymond for this video! I recently purchased the dongle after watching this video but it doesn't seem to detect my phone when I plug it into the dongle. I've installed the AutoKit via the link you provided but nothing happens when I plug my phone in and launch AndroidAuto.. I also noticed that my phone doesn't have the charging icon when I plug it into the dongle like it normally would if I plugged it directly into the usb slot. I have the first generation 10.25" HU from CKM and running Android 9 on my phone. Any suggestions?

I would love to install this but the problem I am having is I can not install anymore apps, I have the SD card in the Android but the apps will not install to the unit. Can you help me with this Raymond please? I tried unmounting the SD card mounting, reselecting the SD as default writable disk, restart the unit. Nothing to no avail

Google owns Waze in case you didn't know. Thing I like about Google is the voice command. I can say Ok Google, navigate to XYZ and it just does it. At least for now Waze only allows voice nave to work or home... kinda useless.

You can download the Android Auto app directly on the unit from the Play Store and it will function correctly with the screen aspect ratio. No dongle needed

Hey Ramond after watching your video I went and purchase the dongle from Amazon and downloaded the autokit apk on a flash drive. I drive a 2016 Lincoln MKC Black Label using Ford Sync 3 system. The headunit detected the USB flash drive but honestly it did not give me option to download the apk. I played around it until I got tire then downloaded the apk on my Android phone and plug it in the car still nothing happened. I thought Android Auto was going to pick up the Autokit apk but it didn't. Look dude I need help and instruction on how to download the Autokit apk onto the headunit using the flash drive.

It just looks better because Android Auto isn't designed for such a wide screen, so the interface gets stretched. Very odd. But what's the HU? Does it put out good audio? Also, if that's on his website, definitely that thing!

You are correct it's not optimized for widescreen. The audio is great and works smooth. Some apps are not supported like Netflix but all the music ones are available. Link in description

The best part of this video is when Droid-Boy Brother gets pissed off because the CarPlay screen looks so much better. I don't know, because I've never used Android Auto, I can tell you from experience, CarPlay is fantastic. It looks great, and works great too.

Hello Raymond. Great video. I've been using the dongle for 2 months and i can tell you android auto is actually better, it just looks like crap compared to iphone. Google Assistant is way smarter and faster than siri, and you cannot use Google maps on Apple car play (unless they fixed that in the new version of the ios). Anyway my question is about what you said about routing the usb cable to the back of the 12V power outlet. I would love to do that, could you do a video on that or give a link to a video that already exists? Also, do you have an idea how to turn off the beep sound from the car when you lock and unlock the doors?

I've noticed a ton of comments in reviews of these dongles stating they experience a lag or have problems with it disconnecting after an hour or so of use. Did you experience any of this assuming you left it installed?

I have not experienced any lag issues per say that could be because this is a Android screen running Android 8.0 so if you are running an older version of Android I could see that as a potential drawback

So at the beginning of the video you said we don't all have the ability to tether our phones. I am one of those people who cannot. But what's the difference between just downloading the Android Auto app from the play store on the screen itself?Wouldn't it connect to the phone via bluetooth and provide the same functionality? Aside from real-time traffic maybe, since that requires a data connection?

The problem with just downloading Android Auto app on the screen are as follows: 1) tits on a bull, it will have no function 2)you will need to download Spotify 3)none of your contacts will be on the screen Yes you can just connect your phone to the screen but it's a bit distracting and some people maybe use to the simple display of Android auto

a few things I recommend for this dongle is to run the USB cable into the center glove box. Also make sure you properly mount the dongle to something so it’s not rattling about and the cable on it isn’t bent. Mine broke because because of those reasons. It’s a very fragile product.

Am I correct in assuming that these are tied ONLY to CKM hardware? As in if you want to add this functionality to any OTHER Android based head unit (since a lot of us don't drive a Benz and there isn't a compatible model for our cars or we already have an Android head unit with similar or identical specs and capabilities) you're still basically screwed?

Not true. The link for the APP is in the description section. As long as your radio allows 3rd party apps then it will work

@@RaymondUrias Sorry, I was just unclear because they state on the dongle's site "compatible with OUR Android head units" then further list that it is ONLY compatible with the 10.25" one. It makes it appear as if these would only work on *their* units, and more specifically only one certain line of products with a specific screen size. If this is not the case, awesome! It'll work perfectly for me. 😁 (I currently have an 8" 18:9 tablet I use with Android Auto, but no love for iPhone carplay there...)

I tested it on a Android screen 9" for BMW 328i and it worked fine once we installed the app, it recognized it pretty quick.

I have installed it and works ok but when i receive a call i can’t hear nothing bcs the device uses autokit instead of car bluetooth. How can i force to use the MB bluetooth instead of autokit at the calls? Thanks

Pair the Bluetooth to your car first and set it up as " phone" then pair it to your screen and set it up as "music only"
