It’s the lip that holds the laptop. The one that clips in. There’s a video where someone says to sand it down a bit so that it closes all together. Third party items usually don’t sand them at the right level. That’s why it shows that way.

@@TheWebPotato the case adds weight to the mac’s precision cover and hinge, the differences here adds up over time, straining the hinge at every open and closing motion resulting in failure. You can feel the difference between a case protected macbook with the one without. The one with the case feels very loose
