Ehi E! I see that you're using a Logitech Streamcam! I have it too but Logi Capture is not compatible with M1 Mac :( what program do you use to change the setting of the webcam?

I agree, the MBP base model should have 16gbs. Considering you can get a 8core 8core MBA with 16gb, the lines between the two models are getting blurred significantly. its hard to justify a MBP currently.

Just got the MBP M1 13'' with 8gb/512gb for $1049 at Best Buy. I'm really happy with what I got for the price. It was $450 off.

I just got the MacBook Air M1 16gb-1tb and it is by far the best computer I have owned. I had a 2015 MacBook Pro and this little Air blow the old Pro out of the water. I do a lot of video editing and am amazed at how fast this thing is. I decided on this one over the M2 Air because I like the wedge design much better than the newest one.

@@bjorktaylor you have to do it on the Apple website but select the MBP you want and then you’ll see options further down the page to upgrade the hard drive storage and RAM.

In terms of purely buying the MacBook for school work such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint etc. Would you say the 8GB model would be enough? I will not be gaming on it as I have a dedicated windows PC for that, its purely for school work and studying and music production in Logic Pro X?

im a graphic artis and not a video editor creator, i only use photoshop and adobe illustrator for my designs, so is it worth it to buy the air than the pro?

Those programs still need a bit of power to run, I recently just got the new MacBook Pro M1, 16 RAM, 1TB and I am loving it. I used to have a dell and it only lasted one year because Illustrator, photoshop and Indesign basically killed my laptop. It's a bit pricey, but it is worth it in the long run.

Love it, thx. Imo affinity photo even tho its made for the m1 is significantly slower than its intel version on my 16 macbook pro.

Yessir! Still going strong! 1TB SSD was worth it too, I don't find the 14 inch worth it since the battery is worse and its significantly chunkier, I love my 13 inch. Although the high refresh rate is tempting lol @@pupstermobster8567

I always try to max out ram and storage in order to future proof. I’m seriously thinking about selling my 2020 iPad Pro for the 16 RAM & 2TB M1 model. But I really don’t need that kind of power right now. But it would be nice to not have to buy another iPad for the next 6-8 years.

That's good to know. I live in Brazil and, hopefully (if the vaccine allows), I'll be traveling to NY in 2022. I've been saving my money to get a Macbook Pro (1 Dollar is almost 6 BRL, so, it's gonna be a task) to boost up my video editing (I've been rocking the same old Dell Notebook for the past 5 years), glad to know I've been making the smart math in my mind to get the 16Gb RAM model hahahaha

I'd say if you're wanting to save cash just get 8GB Macbook air. If you're going for the Pro model, then you should absolutely get 16GB because the Pro has also active cooling. Kinda wasted if you only have 8GB of RAM. That being said neither 8 or 16GB is really enough for me. My desktop has 32GB of system RAM and 11GB of dedicated video RAM... And I often use like 17GB+ of system RAM and 3GB+ of video RAM without really even doing much on the machine. So ideally I'd want 32GB model.

The 16gb model should be a minimum for anyone planning to keep their Macbook for more than 3 years, which is most people. Back in the day, 4gb ram used to be adequate for most people and reviewers would tell people that's all they'll need if they don't use memory intensive apps, but as time went by and more programs began to transition away from 32-bit architecture, 4gb caused issues even with simple browser tasks. I think the problem with KZfaqrs who recommend the 16gb only to people who use graphic intensive apps is that they upgrade very frequently and don't consider the average consumer who can't afford to be upgrading to the latest model every few years and how apps that seem to be lightweight today could become very memory hungry a few years down the line. KZfaqrs need to also consider the user who keeps their Macbook for 8-10 years, not just 2-3 years when they're making memory recommendations

@@JonJon-vg2nv Referencing the fact that apple "stacked" a single ddr memory chip atop the m1 chip for all their 8GB models. The expanded question then is, does the 16GB model achieve this capacity with a more dense single ddr chip, or is it expanded elsewhere on the board?
