Uhhh let you know my thoughts? Well, I think this is the most useful video I've watched in at least three months, maybe longer. I'm surprised how much I did not know about Apple Maps, particularly considering that I use it at least twice a day, every day. Now I feel like I need to play around with the available features on Maps on CarPlay, because that's really where I use it most.

I prefer the way apple maps gives directions vs google maps. For instance Apple maps say: on the next light turn right whereas google maps say: in 100m turn right.

Apple Maps has grown so much. I really enjoy it.

Great information. I have to agree that Apple Maps has excelled in accuracy of directions and the options offered while traveling. We have used Google maps for years in spite of errors that we incurred. Now we use Apple Maps exclusively and trust it more than we ever did with Google or Waze. Thank you for an honest review.

Off-line Apple maps in iOS 17 are great! You can even use them with CarPlay while driving in areas with terrible to no cell phone coverage.

Alright, 49 seconds in and I already learned something new. I’ve used iPhones since the 3GS was announced, so I’m not exactly new to iPhones, but the map zooming thing one handed….. game changer. I’m in disbelief I never heard about this sooner. I’m using a refurbished 64gb XR, and that still worked. It’s so simple, but I wish I would’ve know sooner. Would’ve saved me a lot of annoyance.

Zooming is a lot easier for me using pinch in or out with two fingers. The double tap method works but often adds a dropped pin that I have to delete. Some good tips in the video though and well described and presented.

I love the graphics on Apple Maps, and it looks great in Car Play. However they need to sort out the speed camera alerts, some are missing and often they app alerts you at the wrong time, often after you have passed the camera.

I’ve used Apple Maps for several years and I agree with your opinion that it has improved greatly.

I use Apple Maps as my car has Apple car play. I find it very accurate and useful.

Had problems getting to a meeting point in the countryside. The only one in our group who got to the carpark used Apple Maps. Have switched to Apple Maps since. Another time, notified Apple of an error on street address. It was acknowledged and rectified within a few days.

Thanks for the review! I would like to see apple have the option to keep it in dark or light mode whatever mode your phone is in like google maps. You have the option on MacOS to do this why not on the iPhone? I don't care for the dark map when I have my phone in dark mode 😑 Man those offline maps are bigger in size than I expected can't you just take screenshots of different areas zoomed in and out just and idea and look at them later? Seems like a storage hog. I don't use apple maps for driving directions anymore it used to get me lost or take me to the wrong place idk know if it's improved better now. I alternate between Google & Apple Maps. Apple has saved the day on my last road trips. Google had us taking A LOT of dirt roads.

The double tap/slide to zoom is a feature I’ve grown accustomed to in maps apps. But, using various maps apps for a variety of things, what I find kind of annoying is that while sliding up in Apple Maps and Nike Run Club (uses Apple Maps) zooms in on the map, that same double tap/sliding up gesture in Google Earth (probably Google Maps too) and Footpath (which uses Google) zooms out on the map, so I can never remember which is which and, like the USB debacle, I can never seem to get it right the first time. Obviously, not a huge thing, but I wish it was a little more standardized across iOS.

I’m on a brand new iPad mini, using Apple Maps for 1st time, and so far the thing is stuck on off-line maps, no button to just get started. On the road, and frustrated. I want a full tutorial. Please. One that starts right at the beginning. And, give clarity when you push a button or Icon, so we can easily know where or how to make that button appear. Is there a way to change part of a route shown by Apple maps during navigation? Like dragging a highlighted route onto another road? Adding a stop does not work for me, because I don't know the exact location of stops.

How often is the satellite data updated? On Maps an area across from my home in Philadelphia is showing as an empty lot, where in reality an apartment complex has been built for almost two years.

In general I prefer and my default is Apple maps. However, there are still a few times when traveling where Google Maps has better coverage but it’s been a while since I have had to switch to Google Maps. 😊

I usually use google maps to figure out where I’d like to go (day trip outings) but use Apple Maps in the car for navigation, I’m grateful to see a hint as to how I may plan a day trip in advance ( hopefully I can save it) by adding stops, my last day trip had 7 stops. Not knowing how to use maps properly I would get to my 3 rd stop the. Navigate to my 4th and so on clumsy.

Great video. I like Apple Maps but, most of the times I’m not using it and the reason is simple; when I’m driving, most of the times I don’t need directions, but I do still want to be alerted to different information, like police radar, accidents, and so on… well, in Apple Maps you only have this information if you are active navigating somewhere which, as I said, I don’t always need. But, if I use Waze, I can get all this information even when I’m not navigating anywhere. It’s really a drawback about Apple Maps. Finally, I drive an EV car and, as at right now, the app is not that good to plan a trip with an EV car.

The thing I don’t like about Apple Maps is when I have directions on it doesn’t allow for satellite view. Is there a way to change that?

Once I enter my destination I'm not satisfied with the route. I want to change the route even if it's two minutes slower. How is this done?

It’s most definitely a better improvement from what it originally started with but and it’s a big but in apple car play the satellite mode doesn’t work 😢

Needs a reverse directions feature badly! Ability to add more than 13 stops to a route also!

Maybe I missed it…. How can I tell maps to quit bugging me about the route on a road trip where I exit for gas? A route pause? I don’t want to try to include those incidental stops as planned.

I've been giving Apple Maps a shot for directions, and honestly, it's way better for me. The only hiccup with Apple Maps is that when you're searching for new places, it doesn't have as much info as Google. The reviews and pictures are also from external sources. But when it comes to giving me directions, Apple Maps beats everything else, hands down.

I used to love Apple Maps. But they are extremely slow when updating new roads and their map information. Especially new developments!! I tried submitting to apple. Never heard anything. Submitted to Google Maps. They added my information within a few days!! Looking at Apple Maps in this development I’m in shows only trees and some dirt trails. 😔

Apple Map doesn’t work in my country (Bangladesh) it can’t even recognize most of the landmarks hence I prefer google maps over it

Unfortunately apple maps is completely useless for me. My main transportation is my bicycle, but there are still no cycling routes in apple maps here in the netherlands. Rendering the app useless for me.

Google maps keeps telling me Ive arrived when I'm nowhere near the place. WTF. And even though I downloaded maps for google maps to use offline it wont let me plot a route offline, so whats the point. Apple maps is so much better. If every delivery driver used Apple instead of Google maps things would be alot better
