In Early 2018, Apple partially finished construction on their new massive office building, called Apple Campus 2, Also known as Apple Park & the Spaceship.
The Apple Park is the corporate headquarters of Apple Inc., located at One Apple Park Way in Cupertino, California, United States.
The land cost an estimated $160 million dollars In 2011, the original planned budget for Apple Campus, was about $3 billion dollars, however in 2013 the total cost was estimated to be closer to $5 billion dollars.
The company’s new 175-acre campus, is one mile in circumference, with a diameter of 461 meters , and can house 12,000 employees.
The main building was ready for employees to begin partial occupancy in January 2018, as the building was still not finished, the process of moving more than 12,000 people, was estimated to take over six months.
Special thanks for Oxysasha for all his help in supplying the footage.

Pictures and video don't convey the real sense of scale. If you hike nearby hills and look at it, it is far and away the largest artificial feature in the area. Same if you're flying over it into San Jose. It is much larger than a football stadium (also new, and nearby).

I've worked in open concept offices at Microsoft. The noise canceling headphones don''t really help. They end up filtering out ambient sound, but make other peoples conversations even more clear and distracting. I think saying that workers in an open concept environment only lose 20% productivity is probably an understatement.

14 meters of personal space each? Are you including space allocated to hallways, common areas, storage space, utility space, etc. when you calculate personal space at 14 meters per person? I'm not trying to be snarky - just wondering how much actual personal work space an average employee there will get.

I’ve noted for so many years the failure of architects to take the human experience into consideration in their designs. Think walls, poorly placed air conditioner vents, sealed buildings that cause the increase of toxins in the air...and most importantly the reliance on a straight edge and 90 degree right angles in their designs. One short architect drew all electrical, water and gas lines in the same area suggesting that a leak in the dentists anesthesia lines would filter through all of the offices. And another added draining holes in the short walls surrounding the flat roof of the bank building that were 12 inches above the roof line creating a swimming pool when it rained and the water poured down the AC vents. The owner of the building didn’t like it when I pointed that out to him. Oh, well. I digress. I guess the point is that just because an architect designs something or that it wins awards doesn’t mean it is a good design. I would really hate to have to try writing a complex set of code in an office like that. Too many distractions. Probably good for diversity and pr, however.

Open offices makes productive workers unproductive. Here is the reason why this change is happening. Management spends a lot of their day in meetings and communicating with people. They logically assume that working in a large room with other people that their employees with also be productive in that setting. Yet management will have a single office to themselves and can close the door. My suggestion is having management in a large room and let the employees have a quiet space to do their creative work without random interruptions.

It ain't no Washington DC Pentagon. I am surprised that the entire land they built this on was purchased for less than $2 million while the properties around that were routinely selling for 50 times that amount. The California real estate market is unbelievably expensive.

Yeah but half the people would have been infected so that place would be crawling with walkers from the start. Plus people would probably raid this place alot. It's a big coveted target with only glass as protection.

They would probably be fired. Just like Coke would fire you if you brought in a Pepsi. Even though I find it ironic that most car salesmen that work at dealerships don't even drive the same brand of cars that they sell. I always ask them what they drive and why they are trying to sell me a brand that they don't even drive, like if this car is so great than why don't you own one? Stumps them every time.
