Because many people upgrade components over time and have a plethora of HDMI cables, so there's no need to include one and mark up the price on it. As someone who has a box filled with old, usable cables, I appreciate this decision very much!

It would be helpful to have information on how to set up for sound when you have your sound going through surround sound instead of TV. Still no sound.

moved and have anew internet company. Am trying to reset A-TV and it's showing Start Using Air Play 2. System synced to my iphone, or so I thought, though didn't show a 4-digit number for my phone. When I slide up on my phone and go to the home sign says A-TV is not available. When I tap the exclamation point, it just spins....sigh. Bluetooth and wifi all active on iphone. Any recommends?

hey, there's something weird going on with my Apple TV. Everything was fine when suddenly out of the blue it started showing a message saying there was no internet connection (which is not true, I do have internet and everything). It's worth mentioning that I have it plugged to the Ethernet cable so I decided to connect via WiFi but I just couldn't find the wifi option on the Apple TV, as if it had vanished or disappeared. I reseted it thinking I'd be able to set it up as new but no! It just doesn't recognize the internet, keeps saying there is no connection and the wifi feature is just gone! Do you happen to have an idea as to why this happened?

The hdmi port you plug it in to can matter on TVs. Some (Sony for instance) only have certain ports that are 4K compatible. Sure it will work but you’ll never get 4K if you don’t. Great video.

Thank you. Spectrum encouraged me to purchase this to be able to "record" shows from the Spectrum app using my brand, spankin' new Samsung Smart TV. However, they also told me the DVR cloud through Spectrum would allow me to record. Nope. Have to have this Apple TV, Roku, or another similar device. I'd like to see a video showing how to "record" a show using the Apple TV.

I can't even get past the first few steps. I connected everything just like you showed, but when I click on the remote it doesn't put me into setup mode. nothing I click on just says "connection error, you are not connected to the internet"

Either you forgot a very important step or I needed one you didn't need. To get the remote to get set up I needed to hold down the MENU+Up Arrow at the same time. Found that out on another youtube video. Otherwise very helpful.

Is there a way to connect an Apple TV to both TV and sound system? Normally you just connect to TV and from TV to sound system, but if you want to take advantage of Dolby Atmos but do not have a TV with eARC (2.1) HDMI port then you can't get the Atmos signal to the sound system. Could I use some type of splitter to send a signal from Apple TV 4k to bot TV and sound system? If so, can you suggest a HDMI 2.1 splitter? Many thanks.

No. But I believe you'll need an Apple ID in order to download apps. You can create one from the Apple TV box directly or on your computer/phone.
